This blog is about music I like, and the occasional other stuff. I do own records but I don’t got a record player now [UPDATE: got me one!]. What’s on offer here is a mix of CD rips, music from the vanguard bloggers (who rip their unbelievable collections and got the whole music blogosphere started – huge props!) where shares are not available anymore, files that just found their way to my hard drive somehow and the very occasional vinyl rip manufactured at a friend’s house.
The work of the many original music bloggers around is akin to the role of cultural preservation that museums have in the area of fine arts. They collect art and present it to the public, for a symbolic price or entirely free. They even get funded by the state, that is, by all of us, for this. Do museums harm artists? Do they drive artists or art dealers out of business? If there had been no museums until recently, this might indeed be the case at first.
In fact, when museums were introduced during enlightenment, it was a revolutionary act. We need museums, just as we need enthusiastic music bloggers who make the interested public aware and knowledgeable of the great works of acoustical art that will otherwise be accessible only to the chosen few, or fall into oblivion.
We also need record collectors that rip their treasures with the highest possible quality. Here the situation has improved a lot. While a few years ago, when it all started, most rips came in 128 kbit, quality has been improving steadily along with connection bandwidth. Soon, 320+ kbits and lossless formats will be standard.

Hej-Ho! Came back after a long time without A fake orgasm…just to become sad again when I realised that the Kraftwerk bootleg is over limit and cannot downloaded anymore…*schnieff*

Hi Thomas! Divshare sucks, but they accept large files… Just checked, the K4 should be available again in a few days. Be sure to get it. Best wishes
