Hi. I’m Matt. I live in the Midwest with my amazing, precocious daughter (she does not yet have a blog but if they assign one in kindergarten this fall, I’ll let you know). I used to work in mental health counseling with kids, which was incredibly frustrating, funny, difficult and rewarding (sometimes all at once). Currently, however, I’m dealing with a disability and mysterious health crisis. I like to write, read, follow the St. Louis Cardinals in baseball and the Cincinnati Bengals in football. I miss being able to play tennis. I like the number 3, can’t stand to be around spiders, don’t like roller coasters but do like the log rides (go figure). I believe in God, love, freedom, saving for a rainy day, and the power of random kindness. I like scary stuff and may be the biggest fan of Halloween in the world. I mean the holiday, but I like the movie as well (“I shot him six times!”). I was the lucky recipient of a successful kidney transplant in 2003, and my sister was the miracle-providing donor. Michelle, I do mental health therapy with kids who are having significant behavior problems at home/school. Indirectly, I work with the parents as well. I go into the schools or homes to see the kids. Art therapy would be a cool career.
