Comment on Reading break and a false sense of freeedom by learningcurve

I need to ponder on assignments before I start them. Sometimes I get the motivation/a focus from a spark after ruminating on it for a few days, and it usually happens while in the shower or in the middle of the night, but I’ll take it where ever and whenever it hits me. When we went outside for the PHE class this past week, and I heard the birdsong, I realized I need to be outside more, whether that be running, walking, gardening or being still – all will benefit my well-being which can be a part of this self-care journey.

I started and have had to pause it due to a muscle cramp. Thought it was all good and was going to start again this week, but the cramp returned during a hike with a friend yesterday. Massage therapist on Wednesday thought it was my popliteus muscle, as I thought it was where the soleus muscle originated (high up on calf/left side, below knee), due to too short of a gait while running. I might give running a quick whirl today in the hopes to not loose the momentum I was gaining, but am nervous.

It’s going to be hard to maintain an even keel every day, but your attention to your own needs as a person are pretty important. I completely agree with you – if you can’t manage yourself how can you expect your students to do so…?

Look for some songs that are the right tempo for your run and then you can might enjoy it more. I found a website that says songs that run around 120-125 BPM are great for jogging and here is a playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2FrhGKeKlD0UKrvAbvIShq
I cannot vouch for the playlist though! Ha ha. Maybe some classic rock…!

False sense of security and running on terror – totally. Well done! You know, if you didn’t find your motivation behind the sofa, I hope you at least found a little change so you could buy a treat from 7-11…

Although you are juggling a lot more than I am, I am finding it so helpful for my motivation to get assignments done if I have gotten outside and or exercised! Do you find your focus shifts after moving?
