I consider myself an active user and supporter of free software. So what do I do to support free software? Well, I do contribute code to free software projects, but most of these are academic research prototypes that are only of interest to a very small group of users. For most of the software that I am using, I neither know the code bases nor the programming languages well enough for being able to contribute. Therefore, my contribution is mainly in terms of bug reports.
I always add bugs to this list upon reporting them. I don’t update this list when the description of a bug changes, and I don’t remove bugs that turn out to be invalid or duplicated. (However, most of my bug reports are valid.)
These are bugs I have reported to various projects:
evil
- evil-execute-macro: @@ after @: executes previously executed keyboard macro
- Stuff put into black hole register appears in unnamed register
- evil-ex-search-forward broken; its use screws up other things as well
- Repeat replacement doesn’t work in “other” view of split buffer
- Highline conflicts with visual mode
- Spurious newlines inserted after pasted text; screw up undo
- evil-window-lru rotates through all windows
- Text marks [ and ] (first and last character of previously changed or yanked text)
- evil-ex-search-forward reports error instead of searching interactively
- set-mark-command in Emacs state activates Visual state
- :s@pattern@replace@: unknown command
- :s/pattern/replace/ doesn’t allow \/ in replacement
- Patch: reftex-select-bib-mode in Emacs state
- :s/pattern//g replaces with “g” instead of empty string
Gentoo Linux
- app-emacs/evil-1.0.8 version bump
- dev-lang/scala-2.10.2 doesn’t build with paludis’ “cave resolve”; unsuccessfully tries to create \/root\/.m2
- app-emacs/evil-1.0.5 version bump
- app-emacs/evil-1.0.2: version bump
- app-emacs/org-mode-8.0.1: version bump
- dev-libs/zorba-2.8.0: new ebuild
- cellwriter-1.3.5 (and please move from media-gfx to app-accessibility)
- media-plugins/kipi-plugins-3.0.0 fails to build, possibly because of missing HUpnp dependency
- app-misc/byobu: please update ebuild (e.g. to byobu-5.27)
- app-office/libreoffice-3.6.4.3 build fails with error 65280 in mysqlc
- app-text/texlive-core-2011 does not work with dev-tex/luatex-0.63.0 (does not find modules)
- dev-lang/wml-2.0.11-r4 does not work with dev-lang/perl-5.12.2-r2
- app-emacs/emacs-w3m-1.4.4-r3 doesn’t work with app-editors/emacs-23.2-r2
- dev-vcs/git-1.7.3.2[+doc] does not build (docbook2texi error)
- dev-tex/biber: new ebuild request
- World update (with paludis-0.52.3) fails because amarok-2.3.1-r2 blocks amarok-utils-2.3.1
- kde-base/okteta-4.3.3-r1: 4.3.3-fix_inverse_save_logic.patch fails
- Strigi fails to initialize; needs /usr/lib/libjvm.so
- File name collisions prevented by mutual package blocks
- ktimetracker-4.3.2 broken: reports version 4.3.1, missing menus

Akregator
- Some feeds do not get updated until I flush Konqueror’s cache

- Text area editor incredibly slow when typing
- Disable spell checking for text areas permanently
- Shortcuts for find-related actions no longer work
- nepomuksearch hasTag does not reliably display tagged files
KTimeTracker
- Configure KTimeTracker shown twice in Settings menu
- Filtering tasks by priority or title and summing their times
- Session time in status bar remains unchanged when closing file
- Search bar gets activated even when it’s hidden
- Search bar always displayed after Settings -> Configure KTimeTracker
- Small window becomes visible for some milliseconds
