To harbor bad thoughts about Allah or his religion invalidates one’s belief.

There are many things that we say with our tongue and many actions we take in life that can invalidate our belief in Allah and if we die in that state we die an unbeliever

So many Muslims believe that with just a seed of faith they will enter paradise not knowing the reality which is that if their belief system is not correct – they have no seed of faith. This lecture explains this.

In class today the question came up as to whether Allah sends Punishment to the believer as a means of erasing his sins. The answer is NO. Allah will not erase your sins unless you repent from them. As the Prophet (sa) said: “Repentance wipes away what came before it..” [Muslim]

Instead Allah sends Hardships to the Believer as a means of teaching him patience and making him a stronger better Muslim. As the Prophet(sa) said:

“Great reward comes with great trials. When Allah loves a people, He tests them, and whoever accepts it attains His pleasure, whereas whoever shows discontent with it incurs His wrath. [Tirmidhi]

Also: “Nothing befalls a believer, a (prick of a) thorn or more than that, but Allah will raise him one degree in status thereby, or erase a bad deed. [Bukhari]

Also: “How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good, and this applies to no one but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for him.” [Muslim]
