Good News! Grant Funding Helps Leimert Park Move Toward Historic Status!
Great News! We are happy to announce that the Los Angeles Conservancy has recently received a $75,000 Underrepresented Communities Grant Program from the Historic Preservation Fund, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior, to support the nomination of Leimert Park as a Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Long Beach Votes Against Stoner House
On December 18, the Long Beach Planning Commission voted against our appeal to delay the demolition and approval of a rare 1956 Ray Kappe-designed home in Long Beach’s Naples Island. The appeal was filed by the Coalition to Save the Stoner House—a coalition formed by the Los Angeles Conservancy, Docomomo US/SoCal, and Long Beach Heritage. The post-and-beam house is the earliest example of Kappe’s work in Long Beach, and is the only example of his work in the community prior to 1975.
