Big Brother, as envisioned by the great George Orwell, has long been present in America. Since the days of Wilson, maybe even Teddy.
Regardless, the new BB America is evolving its technology of monitoring its subjects from the traffic cameras to something out of movies – a pay as you drive tax.

Liberty is indeed, my fellow American slaves.
Since the election, one which I feel seals the final downfall of the ideal of liberty on which this country was founded, I have “turned off” a lot of things in my life. Fox News (and all such similar political programming, MSNBC, CNN, etc.) is first on my list.
I have also turned off all political discussions with friends and family. What’s the point of arguing something that cannot be resolved. Perseverance is a value, but futility is simply idiocy.
I have also turned off four of my children. The awful transgression of our so-called natural rights, unalienable and freely given to us by God, in what our politicians have laughingly named “Family Court” is finally too much for me to bear.
As I occasionally listen to the farcical and blatant communistic coverup of the Blagoviech Affair to protect our first American Tyrant I am confident I made the right decision.
Liberty is dead.
Okay, Michael Savage is a strange bird. It’s hard not to laugh when this guy calls Al Gore crazy (which is true, certifiable), but some of the issues he raises are often ignored in the media. The issues he raises that the media do cover never give the man accredition (MSM = Friends of the Joe Biden Plagerism Society).
Lately, though, it’s been hard to listen to the man. If he’s not shilling for his books or his now-dropped CAIR suit, he’s hardly on the air. At times you smell his desperation through the speakers.
But today, with the announcement of Gov. Palin as McCain’s backup, I’ve arrived at the conclusion it’s time to turn the dial off.
Savage decries the choice, declaring Romney should have gotten the VP nod. While the former Mass. Gov. was the best overall choice for the top slot, his failure to achieve the President nomination reveals that the man could never have won the November election. Huckabee’s constant attacks on Romeny as a possible VP nominee reveals that indeed those peskie South Baptist religious bigots, always on the march against Mormons, would have torpedoed the election if he was in either slot.
Palin, like my next favorite choice, Jindal, is like him in that she lacks enough experience – yet – for the job. While the Demoncrates are attacking her as even less experienced than their man nObama, they ignore the quality of difference between the two candidates; Palin’s experience comes outside the Beltway, which is just what nObama says the country needs despite his own D.C. credentials as a frehsman senator and the similar legislative experience from the state level.
Palin’s experience comes from real life, living and breathing among the ordinary Alaskan natives compared to pObama’s elitist education and radical revolutionary Marxist associations.
Palin cleaned house – working against the dregs her own party as well as the opposition’s.
And finally, even more importantly, Palin’s character was revealed when visiting our fallen troops in Germany. She had no problem going without staff and personal press. Obama refused to visit, throwing a hissy fit – now his MO – since he couldn’t bring his MSM PR team.
Mike, like Gore, you have gone certifiable.
And I’m turning you off………………….
The brouhaha over McCain not knowing how many houses “his wife” owns should be the nail in the coffin for The One if McCain or other supporters make the correct reaction ads. Here are some suggestions:
First, a counter to the on-the-street video running on youtube that questions “average” people how many houses they own. The highest number is two. Probably not all that uncommon. The counter to this is quite simple: Man-on-the-street Question: “How many houses would you like to own? If you could own more than one, would you? Would you like to be able to buy a house for each of your children? Is it wrong to own more than one house? The Questions would reveal that while not everyone might want a lot of houses, most would think it’s not necessarily a bad thing.
The logical answer to the original Obama attack ad on McCain homes is to highlight Obama’s supporters and pals who own multiple houses with tag lines to identify their Obama connection. Include in the ad Kerry’s homes and total worth, Kennedy’s, Pelosi, etc. Then close with Obama’s first public counter, Obama saying he “owned one home” and show a long-shot view of his multi-million dollar home, with its price tag…then close with Obama’s comment, “millions of home-owners struggling to make their mortgage payments” with a mention the $200,000 discount on the adjacent property with Rezko…then close with: “And Obama says he is connected with the average American?
That viewpoint could be supported by another on-the-street ad, asking the average American the value of their home…then close with shot of Obama’s mansion with its value. Closing tag, “Not your average American home, is it?’ A variation could include asking about square feet (homeowners really understand the value of more space).
Another ad could simply include all the Dems that ran for President or are influental, the price tags on their home or their personal wealth…and finish with, “Suddenly the Democrats have a problem with having too much money…”
Perhaps another ad could include the original reporter’s question laid over Obama “One worth $2 million” – then Bayh, then Kerry, then Kennedy.
Can’t wait to see these or other inventive ads produced!
My daughter has recently mentioned an interest in politics and joining her high school debate team. She will be in ninth grade. Fourteen years old.
Gotta’ show her this, though, as one very un-American and not-so-great college debate.
Unbelievable.
Surely someone else has talked about this already, but I haven’t seen it anywhere, so….
Is that all cheating on one’s spouse is worth, 1%? Some have said John Edwards gave a great apology full of remorse and regret. Uh, did they hear the “99% of the truth is apparently not good enough anymore” part? How despicable. I’ve been cheated on by a spouse, but never cheated myself. Thought about it, I admit. But apparently that one percent of valuing marriage vows is a little heavier in my soul than others.
I don’t know why because I’ve seen this coming for so long. But, every day something happens, something I see in the news, that displays for us the fall of our country. So sad, what we’ve become.
And I admit, unlike John Edwards, that I am as big a part of it as everyone else.

Okay. Haven’t done a lot of “fun” writing in a long time. Just some fits and starts. Finally went back to college to finish it, and I did. A total of 153 college hours in four years. Yes, a little over five years of college, some semesters with seven classes, every summer semester with five. Thus, most my writing was at the behest of pleasing stuffy professors with no patience for a student’s “voice” in stuffy explications.
Of course, my voice still came through. Even when I edited out the most obvious personal comments, I made each work reflect my own view, and not something someone else already decided.
I worked at getting published for a few years, but then a terrible divorce – 12 years out of my life and still going – put me off-track, along with the college gig as well.
I wrote what is considered “crime” fiction, mostly. But my real dream when I started was to publish a best-seller in every genre. Then I got distracted writing screenplays. Almost sold one, the fear of the success the only thing that doomed that.
And the divorce.
But like Paul Newman said in an underrated sequel to “The Hustler”, “The Color of Money” – “I’m back, baby.”
I’ll be posting comment now and then, and perhaps some shorts I’ve written as well. I plan on self-publishing some novels I finished, after some editing and a fresh and more critical perspective courtesy of having a BAS.
