Dear Steve Hayes,
Khanya blog carried a response to the Hermitage of Divine Wisdom Appeal in June.It was positive and sympathetic. However, your blog has also included since June the libellous gossip of someone
who conceals their name but writes under the pseudonym Guardian Angel. I have known and worked with Karen Markham for ten years. This is slander and defamation of character. My sense of your blog is that it is inspired by Orthodox Christianity and by values of charity and decency. Legal advice is that in U.K. law, there is here a strong case of libel and defamation of character. But the legal route is surely a last resort.Would you consider removing this item from your blog and so from the Google entry under Karen Markham and the Hermitage of Divine Wisdom? Bishop Michael , the trustees of the Hermitage Trust and all who know Karen, would be very grateful. Greetings, Priestmonk Silouan.
I have removed both the original post and the comments on it from public view.
Many thanks.Your response is both gracious and swift. All concerned will be grateful. Greetings of peace, Hieromonk Silouan. Monastery of St Antony and St Cuthbert,Gatten, U.K.
Hello and Blessings from Canada,
At the risk of sounding ridiculous, is there any Orthodox aid being sent to the Horn of Africa famine and drought victims?
Thanks,
GeorgeYuri
Hi,I went to the Greek church in Durban twice but I am not going back.It is shocking how the rich greeks sit in front and ignore less afluent members and those of other races. The greeks also have a habit of staring at you up and down.I would rather buy icons and pray at home.
Shopkeeper mentality
I write a blog about memorial drinking fountains and would like permission to use your photos of the Victorian drinking fountain in Burgersdorp. I would, of course, credit and link back to your website.
You can view my blog at memorialdrinkingfountains.wordpress.com
Dear Father Stephen,
I do not know of a Web site for deacons to communicate and share with one another, but it might exist. Hope you can connect with your brothers in Christ.
Meanwhile, you might be interested in looking at our Web site, https://www.orthodoxdeacons.org.
It has a good deal of information about the diaconate.
Your sister in Christ,
Marilyn Rouvelas
