Proud
This weekend my brother and sister participated in the Chicago Marathon. I am very proud of both of them. As most of you have heard by now, the race was canceled midway through due to the heat. I can not imagine being in that situation at all. Reading my sister’s recap made me very sad. I don’t know how you could run out of water in a race. It happened to me at a 5k in 75 degree weather, but that is a different story. They knew it was hot , and they had to have know that people would take more then one glass of water. I can’t believe that the race organizers didn’t realize people would be pouring water on themselves. Have they not run in the heat before.
Please read about their experiences at their blogs.
Short Run
Yesterday I went out for a short run. I haven’t been running in forever and my foot is still a bit tender, so i wasn’t sure how it would go. The temperature was in the 80’s , which was a bit higher then i would have liked.
I did a run 4 walk 2 pass for about 20 minutes and decided that was a good first run back and called it a day.
It was good to be running, but definitely need to work my way back up.
Sidelined by injury
I cut my foot with a razor this weekend while getting into the shower. No major injury, but a decent gash on the side of my foot which makes shoes and socks nearly impossible. Hopefully I will be able to work out again soon.
Weekend Run
I finally went for a run this weekend. I went out for about 30 minutes and ran half walked half. I didn’t want to overdue it after not running for so long. I have a 5k at the end of the month and the 1/2 in a little over a month, I really need to get back in the swing of things.
No motivation
I have no motivation to run lately. Its too hot or too rainy or I am too tired. I have come up with every excuse in the book. I hopefully will get at least one run in this weekend.
Don’t forget you can enter my raffle to win free panera. No mimimum. Right now no one has donated so your odds are excellent.

Still Here
Yes, I am still here. I am without internet at home at the moment. I did a few short runs last week, nothing major. I didn’t do a long run this weekend. Trying to enjoy the holiday.
Vacation Long run
I wasn’t too motivated during my vacation. The weather was crappy. Raining most every day. I did manage to do about 30 minutes of cross training and then on Sunday I went for a 5.7 mile run. The run was good. My only problems were the unleashed dogs that kept coming up to me and trying to follow me. I also didn’t know the area very well and so I didn’t want to go too far from home base. The area is very hilly , which coupled with the dogs made my time kind of slow. I will post time stats later.
2 Legit 2 Quit
I never thought about quitting my training, but I do admit I was feeling a bit unmotivated lately. Today is the first of a few days off and I woke up to thunderstorms. Luckily the skies cleared and I headed out around 9:30 for a 3 mile run. The pace was slow as the humidity was high, but I did it. And yes to those of you who got the MC Hammer reference on my title, I do have this song on my running playlist. It along with Eye of the Tiger are great motivation songs.
Time: 51:39
Distance 3:22
Splits 15:52, 15:31, 16:07
The last .22 was a walking cool down.
Don’t forget there is still time to donate to my training. This month’s raffle item is a cinch bag from irunlikeagirl.com. Those of you who haven’t donated may be interested in the September raffle item, details coming soon.
