Attorneys - The Just Deeds Project
Attorneys
Discriminatory Covenants were embedded by attorneys in legal documents, such as deeds, development agreements and plats, to prevent homeownership among Black Minnesotans and other communities of color. Private lawyers and city attorneys, we need your skills to help discharge these deeds and acknowledge this shameful history and the present-day repercussions.
Here’s how to get involved and lend your pro bono expertise:
Join our network of volunteer attorneys.
City attorneys, download this PDF to recruit your city to participate and your staff to volunteer.
Find out if your city is participating in the project.
Download the Minnesota statute on discharging discriminatory covenants.
Request a Just Deeds speaker for a CLE or to address your neighborhood, school or community group.
