Thank you for this post. As a secondary school English/Social Studies teacher, I have watched as technology has become a critical, intertwined part of my students’ lives. As educators, it is important that we recognize that technology IS the future of learning, and it is our job to ensure that our students have the knowledge and skills to use technology skillfully to answer their questions. The example you took from Sean McMullen rings so true to me. Our students are used to having an answer to any questions they want in a matter of second on google. However, we as teachers need to guide them in how to use this power correctly and to perform accurate, more concise searches.I have found that because my students are so familiar with Google, they are hesitant to use other resources – just as we once were hesitant to turn to technology because we were so familiar with using hard copy books and library searches.
You discuss how we need to “…reinvent our community interactions as virtual and physical spaces of exchange for cultural and knowledge development.” This is the challenge moving forward. How do we meld these physical spaces with the virtual world of technology in a way so that our students have confidence in accessing the resources skillfully? ]]>

Thank you Judy for your reflections over so many years which have inspired my own thinking and research. I also thank you very much for your support with my PhD research pilot. I plan to complete my thesis by mid 2019. If your leave brings you to Adelaide please let me know. Best wishes for a fabulous year.

Thanks a lot for sharing the work about PYBOSSA. I’m the lead developer of PYBOSSA and we’re really happy to know that other projects discover it.
I guess you already know it, but just in case, check also British Museum’s PYBOSSA project micropasts.org. This project has transcribed all the Bronze Age cards from 1800 to 1990 đŸ™‚ More than 33k cards.
All the best,
Daniel
