Javier Segovia-Aguas

Short Bio

I am a Tenure Track Professor in the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI&ML) research group at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). In my research career, I have published more than 20 articles and served as a Program Committee Member and Reviewer in top-tier AI conferences and journals, and received several awards, for example, the EurAI "Artificial Intelligence Dissertation Award", awarded for the best European dissertation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in 2018. My main research interests are in automated planning and machine learning, where solutions to complex sequential-decision problems are in the form of programs or policies, and extending these ideas to learning high-level models from raw data, and computing hierarchical and provably general solutions. This research may has an impact in other fields such as robotics, software engineering, cybersecurity, and even computational biology.
