Why capture butterflies in nets when you can watch them in a butterfly garden? Butterfly watching and gardening involves creating a space filled with butterfly attracting plants and, then, observing the butterflies that inhabit the garden. Gardens can be open air, allowing butterflies to leave and enter the garden whenever they choose, or gardens can be closed, creating a safe home for a collection of butterflies. Butterfly gardens are common throughout the United States, especially in states like Florida and California. Rhode Island even has its own butterfly garden in Roger Williams Park Zoo, dedicated to victims of the Station fire.
