The World Through the Eyes of Jan Tielens

This picture was taken in 2006, during our China round-trip. We went to see the karst mountains from a balloon. One of the cooler things I’ve done during my holidays. 🙂

When she was 12 my wife got this Rhododendron from her late grandfather. Twenty years later, the flowers still say “hey spring is coming!”.

Fran (and the rest of us) is enjoying the first signs of spring.

Yet another splendid hotel room view this evening: a view on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.

The busride from Reykjavik to the international airport in Kevlavik could be a tourist attraction on it’s own: you drive to a mysterious landscape … (taken from a riding bus)

Quite a different view today: lots of snow. Actually what you’d expect when your in Iceland in the winter.

The view from the executive lounge in the Hilton hotel in Reykjavik, Iceland is pretty impressive. 🙂

It has been a while since I’ve blogged on this blog, but I’ve got a good reason: at the end of 2009 we welcomed our second daughter Lis to this world! Check our family blog for more pictures and info (in Dutch).

I’ve been playing around with my mobile phone to get pictures, movies
etc published to various social networking sites (Twitter, blog,
Flickr etc). If everything goes well, this picture and message should
end up on my photo blog and Flickr stream.

I can’t decide what I like best in this series: color of black and white. She’s cute on both. 🙂

Let’s see how many photographic rules I broke when taking this picture of my daughter Fran running towards me. 🙂

1. Main subject is in the center of the photo.
2. Light is coming from behind. (you can see a ray of light shining down, and her hair is brightly lit)
3. Blown highlights.
4. Eyes are not 100% sharp. (probably because of the movement and big aperture).

But nonetheless I like the picture a lot. 🙂

The glass roof of the fantastic British Museum in London, UK. Recommended!

One Happy Family – ‘Nuf said.

The view on the Empire State Building as seen from the “Top of the Rock” (aka the observation deck of the Rockefellar Center) is quite impressive…

I know some people don’t like “chopped off heads”, but I think in this photo the cropping shifts the attention to her eyes. Feel free to think otherwise of course. 🙂
