Time Flies When You're Having Fun
It is hard to believe, but ten years have passed since I started this blog. The anniversary was a week ago, and I missed it. In case anyone is actually reading, I have gotten pretty lazy about blogging, to say the least. Other things in life have become more important. New responsibilities, kids growing up, that sort of thing.
In addition, I have gotten pretty burned out about politics recently. Needless to say, Donald Trump was far from my first choice, and for the first time in over 20 years I will not be working the polls. With any luck, I will return to my duty station next year, though I am not sure how much longer I will really be volunteering anymore. One day the stars will line up and we'll have a decent set of candidates again.
Thanks for reading. I do use Twitter also. Perhaps I just need to write more about things other than politics!

Russian President Vladimir Putin has also sought to have an element named after him (putinium). According to Mr. Trump, “Yeah, I’m OK with that, but I get the ones with the higher numbers. This shows what a great negotiator I am. Mr. Putin may have something big, but I get something YUGE!”

Donald Trump Buys Naming Rights to New Elements
Periodically Yuge!
Republican Presidential hopeful Donald J. Trump today
announced that he has bought the naming rights for new elements on the periodic
chart that
were recently verified by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry
(IUPAC). It is believed that he
wants to name Elements 117 and 118 “Ivankium” and “TheDonaldum,”
respectively. The IUPAC agreed quickly
to Mr. Trump’s purchase request given “an offer we could not refuse.” From a technical standpoint, the naming makes
sense as the short half-lives of these elements (fraction of a second) are
indicative of the attention span of Mr. Trump’s supporters when confronted with
his recent left-leaning political views.
In addition, like Mr. Trump the elements are unstable and radioactive.
