From the 1933 Northern Ireland Election a leaflet from Seán McCool running as a Republican un Derry City-Foyle. He polled 3,031 votes whilst his opponent James McCarroll (Nationalist) polled 6,557 votes. McCool was a prominent Republican and former Chief of staff of the IRA.

Helena McAuliffe-Ennis polled 3463 vote and Daniel O’Sullivan polled 1938 votes , neither won a seat. Helena McAuliffe-Ennis was important to the Progressive Democrats as she was the only Labour Parliamentary Party member to join them after they had been set up.

Both later left the Party with O’Leary , despite having been party leader joining Fine Gael and O’Connell becoming an Independent before joining Fianna Fáil.
