Iowa Compact … let’s be “Green” together
We are a community of individuals dedicated to counteracting the negative global environmental and socioeconomic impacts of a disposable consumer culture.
We choose to be aware of what we consume; what we buy. Our purchases are healthy for us; healthy for the planet; and healthy for the people who made it. We are dedicated to supporting local businesses, farms, and families in our community.
We share ideas, resources and information in effort to:
* be aware of how we leave an ecological footprint and take steps to reduce our impact on the environment.
* reduce clutter and waste in our homes by recycling, reusing and refurbishing.
* discover ways to prepare for a post-carbon future
* encourage and support one another as we blossom into deeper shades of green.
* simplify our lives.
Join friends and find new ones at the Iowa Compact Community.

One of the best links or bits&pieces:
You probably never thought of this, but women’s shelters in the U.S. go through thousands of tampons and pads monthly. Assistance agencies generally help with expenses of “everyday” necessities such as toilet paper, diapers and clothing, but one of the most BASIC needs is overlooked – feminine hygiene products. Seventh Generation, a green paper products and cleaning products company, has a do-good attitude and will donate a box of sanitary products to a women’s shelter in your chosen state – just for clicking the link. Talk about easy!

Posted by iowacompact | March 10, 2007, 9:42 amGreat blog, I’ll be around here more often. My dh and I are trying hard to change our lifestyle this year. I am so excited now, because my worms (for my worm composter) are being shipped on Monday!
See you around!
