About
I began this blog based on a few truths I hold dear:
Let us join together: to go beyond recycling in trying to counteract the negative global environmental and socioeconomic impacts of U.S. consumer culture. Let us encourage each other and support local businesses and farms. Let us reach out to our neighbors, co-workers and friends to find new ways to live and work together, to reduce clutter and waste in our homes and simplify our lives. Share your insights.
My name is Dawn, thanks for stopping by!

Posted by iowacompact | March 6, 2007, 4:56 amDawn,
This is great….thanks for doing this and for letting me know about what you are doing. You know I love and appreciate all of your graphics…you are a graphic Deva. On my computer the green color came through a bit too much. The bright lime green on the borders overshadowed the faded green text, which made it more challenging to read. lots of bliss to you!!! jb

Posted by Ali | February 9, 2008, 8:14 amHalloween is the most popular consumer holiday after Christmas, with Americans spending nearly $65 per costume and spending a national total of nearly $5 billion each year for decorations, candy and costumes, according to the National Retail Federation.
Concerned about your wallet and buying all that new stuff that isn’t quite eco-friendly? Here are some tips to help you green your Halloween:

Posted by Cialis | March 8, 2010, 7:59 amConsumer culture is an absorbing culture and is hard on our limited natural resources. A lot of the world’s conflicts is at bottom a fight over these limited resources. So few have so much, so many have so little. Great imbalances in the world today.
Guess we should at least seek an inner balance within. So much of what we really need may be already inside of us.
Posted by @Peta_de_Aztlan | January 17, 2011, 4:51 amThat’s right Dawn, my name really is Michael Moore… I introduce myself as the Honest Michael Moore not the Famous One, Thank God for our Military & Constitution I can share a name with someone, totally disagree but respect his rights to say & do the things he does. I’m a Conservationist who cares about the our world habitat. Not an Environmentalists taxing us into a new world order.
Posted by Michael A. Moore | April 22, 2011, 12:51 amWell it’s nice to meet you Michael. As far as I can tell you feel a lot about certain issues that are driven by money and ecology. Personally I think people are far from settling for less than the comforts and convenience they’ve come to enjoy or still buy into as the ‘American Way’ — total illusionary behavior.
Posted by Dawn | April 25, 2011, 7:29 amGreat post thanks!
Posted by Newperran Cornwall | June 5, 2011, 7:53 amI can’t thank you enough for all of that insightful information
