My most memorable job
Over and above the nearly three decades I spent performing and touring in bands (that was a calling, not a job) – the most exciting job I ever enjoyed was being a member of the George Lucas team, as a part of the Lucasfilm LTD. THX division.
My office was on Skywalker Ranch, located up Lucas Valley Road, outside San Rafael in Marin County, California. What a blast that was. I was involved in some incredible leading-edge film and entertainment technologies — and I met a host of fascinating people in film, television, and the music recoding industry.
What a remarkable man George Lucas is, as well as the people he surrounds himself with — and what a dream job that was!
Now I am a writer. 😉 I invite you to CLICK HERE to read some of my recent work.

Roy: “I've...seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-Beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost...in time. Like tears... In the rain.”
Deckard: "I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life... anybody's life... my life. All he'd wanted was the same answers the rest of us want. Where do I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die."

What did you actually do as part of that team?

I was the Development Strategist, which meant — I helped envision ways to strategically position George’s intellectual properties for the growth and benefit of the company.

It was a great period of my life, but also a very busy one. I traveled the country, flying at least a couple times each week.
It is a young man’s career position. A lot of fun — but a lot of ‘frequent flier’ miles… 😉
What an interesting position. It must have been rewarding working in the creative field. All that travel sounds like fun too.

That DOES sound like an incredibly cool job…and you are also a great writer. Too much luck! 😉
Still waiting for the book, Rob.

It was great for quite a while — but it began to get old… it consumes you.
