Welcome to the year-round programs of the Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute!
Along with our annual centerpiece event, the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, we plan to feature a range of exciting documentary programming events throughout the year, both in the Hot Springs area, and in other parts of Arkansas and the region.
PROGRAMS
REBEL WITH A CLAUSE
A grammar guru takes her pop-up grammar advice stand on a road trip across all 50 states to show that comma fights can bring us closer together in a divided time.
Special guests Ellen Jovin (author and creator of the Grammar Table) and director Brandt Johnson will be in attendance, with copies of Ellen’s book, "Rebel with a Clause: Tales and Tips from a Roving Grammarian," available from Magic City Books at 6pm in the lobby, where Ellen will also host her Grammar Table for questions and book signing.
SALLY
“Space was one of Sally Ride’s great loves. The National Geographic documentary, directed by Cristina Costantini, Introduces the other.”
- Variety
A story of love, sacrifice, and breaking boundaries, Sally Ride risked everything to make history. SALLY explores her groundbreaking journey to the stars and her hidden romance back on Earth.
Join the Arkansas Cinema Society (ACS) and the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival (HSDFF) for an exclusive screening of SALLY, a documentary about the hidden life of the first American woman in space, as part of the Sneak Series. Directed by Cristina Costantini, the film features archival footage of the late astronaut and interviews with her family and colleagues, as well as narration by her partner of 27 years, Tam O'Shaughnessy.
Can't wait till October to get your documentary film fix?
Look no further than the new screening series presented by the Hot Springs Film Festival!
We’re launching a new year-round series, and you won’t want to miss the first edition on Thursday, April 17th. Join us for a special screening of One to One: John & Yoko, a film that brings to life the period starting in August 1971 when John Lennon and Yoko Ono moved from their country estate outside London to New York City, where they spent 18 months living in a small apartment in the West Village.
Special thanks to the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts for hosting us for this event, we hope to see you there!
