About me

My name is Hampton Morgan and I was born in North Carolina. I have experienced Christ in fellowship with Baptists, Moravians, Christians from a multitude of other communions, and under the nurture of the church that met in my parents’ house. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Virginia Tech, and remain a faithful member of Hokie Nation. Moravian Theological Seminary granted me a Master’s of Divinity and I served the Moravian Church as a pastor in the U.S. Virgin Islands and in North Carolina for a total of 20 years. Later, I was the Executive Director of the Moravian Church’s mission agency, the Board of World Mission. Since then I have once again been experiencing house church with several other brave Christians in northeast Pennsylvania. My wife and I live near Lake Wallenpaupack in the Pocono Mountains. I hope you will find this blog informative and encouraging.

  What I do: I work a couple of days a week as a bookkeeper for a women's residential substance abuse center, do some self-employed bookkeeping on the side, prepare tax returns, and write technical reports for a telecom company. But what really fires me up is ministering on a part-time basis in a nearby prison. That ministry is called "House of Bread" and operates under Bay Creek Christian Outreach Ministries, Inc.

  What I used to do: I spent about twenty years as a pastor in a mainline denomination and eight years as a denominational official. I am now officially retired from that work.
