Little Things
–
Little things are bigger than you think
–
If we are not thankful for the little things we have each day, then God will not give us anything “big” to be thankful for.

Every little thing I received is a gift of God. The friendly smile from the petrol attendant, the hearty greeting at the till, the handshake at the door of our church – they are all gifts of God.
–
The hug from my child when I get home, that kiss from my spouse, the steamy cup of tea is all a gift of God.
The free sample I got with my newspaper, the discount I got from the store and even the “buy one, get one free” promotional article I received was a gift of God.
Every little thing I have is a gift of God.
The air I breathe, the food in the kitchen cupboard, some meat in the fridge and fruit on the table is all a gift of God.

Running water, electricity and the house we stay in is a gift of God. A blanket to wrap myself in, a bed to lie on even a chair to sit on is all a gift of God.
My health, my friends, my family is all a gift of God. The mere fact that I was born is gift of God, but more so, my salvation, being born again is a gift of God.
My life on earth and my life eternal is all a gift of God.
Every little thing I can give is a gift of God.
To be merciful and able to love is a gift of God. To be kind, patient and available is a gift of God.
To be able to give a word of encouragement or a word of wisdom is a gift of God.

To be able to help the poor by giving a slice of bread, a blanket or a jersey is a gift of God.
To pray for someone, comfort the grieving or to lead a lost soul to God is all a gift of God.
–
It is the little things we receive that opens our eyes to God’s greatness, the little things we have that makes us thankful, the little things we can do that makes us useful in God’s kingdom.
Let us remember the little things we have received, the little things we have and start doing little things for God and others and soon, we too will experience the vastness of God’s love, the awesomeness of God’s grace and even God’s open hand of provision.

God is calling each one of us. “Each one, as a good manager of God’s different gifts, must use for the good of others the special gift he has received from God. Those who preach must preach God’s messages; those who serve must serve with the strength that God gives them, so that in all things praise may be given to God through Jesus Christ, to whom belong glory and power forever and ever.” (1 Peter 4:10-11)
But, some might think: “I can’t do much; I only have a little to give”
Let me remind you of the song “Little is much”.
–
It reads: “In the harvest field now ripened, there’s a work for all to do. Hark; the master’s voice is calling, o the harvest calling you.
Does the place you’re called to labour seem so small and little known?
It is great if God is in it, and He won’t forsake His own. Little is much when God is in it.
Labour not for wealth or fame. There’s a crown and you can win it, if you go in Jesus name.

Many of us pray each day for things we need, yet we have not yet expressed gratitude for what we already have.
Before we ask, we should first give thanks.
The prayers of thanksgiving should exceed the prayers for what we need.

The Marx Brothers refused to limit their routines to Jewish humor and turned down an offer in the Catskill resorts. They soon came far down financially were very hard up.
Harpo took his last pocket of change to a household auction where kitchen utensils, etc. were sold to the highest bidder. He noticed a poor, elderly couple bidding against him for some plates and cups. Even though he spent his last of his change, Harpo went up and gave it all to the couple with a big grin. What the heck, he thought, I still have the power to bring a smile to somebody.
The next day the brothers were offered a really good contract with Vaudeville all over the Midwest….and the rest is history.
Harpo tells this story in “Harpo Speaks”. He sensed the meaning of this experience…that it was how God works with us.
There’s no such thing as having little to give. We all have power over others…kindness or indifference, a smile or ignoring people. Perhaps above all are our thoughts…judging, negative, superior or good will and understanding.

So true. We cannot please God without gratitude and thanksgiving, and
we will receive exactly as we measure out. If we can take Jesus’ simple words at face value, and keep our eye simple, then indeed our whole body will be bright, as a witness to the darkness of this world.
When Jesus said: “let your light shine before men”; that’s exactly what he meant; but we will only shine if we remain apart from the darkness that seeks to extinguish that light.
God has set in motion immutable spiritual laws just as He has physical and natural; so, for example: if we throw a proverbial apple at someone, we can expect to incur the full gravity of our action..should we fail to repent.
And without the little things the big things are impossible, because all things are a constitution of integral smaller things.
So thanks Marianne for a big reminder of the importance of little things!

When I feel this start to manifest I immediately thank the Lord for His power & light in me to send these spirits & satan fleeing. I thank the Lord for all He is, has done, is doing & will do in my life & the lives of those I love.
