However , feel the story and incidents should not be treated harshly as this is a setting of 1960. What was normal then will be shocking now but that is how change happens in society over time. One should view the movie for what it is. Brilliant actors , expressions, songs in an era where talent is all that mattered.

The music was composed by Geeta Roy (Dutt) ‘s brother Mukul Roy. Lyrics are by Shailendra. The film had Geeta Bali and Abhi Bhattacharya in lead roles and was directed by Guru Dutt. It was produced by Mukul Roy, presumably with family money along with Geeta Dutt’s money. The film did not succeed commercially and and it seems as a result, Geeta Dutt had to declare personal bankruptcy.
