Summary

When using the data editor number column on a dataframe starting with None values, it returns a list after entering a value instead of the number.

Reproducible Code Example

import pandas as pd
import streamlit as st
# define df with None values
df = pd.DataFrame({"Number": [None]}, index=[0])
# call data editor
df = st.data_editor(
    data=df,
    column_config={"Number": st.column_config.NumberColumn()},
)
# colun Number is now a list
st.write(df)

Steps To Reproduce

Enter a number into the number column.

Expected Behavior

It should return the number as a number in the printed out dataframe.

Current Behavior

Currently it returns the entered value as an element of a list.

Is this a regression?

• Yes, this used to work in a previous version.
