A writer of poems and stories and on occasion literary criticism, g emil reutter was born in Bristol, Pa., raised in Levittown, Pa. and has lived most of his life in of Philadelphia, Pa. A highly decorated member of the Amtrak Railroad Police, he retired from a 26 year career in the patrol, anti-crime and criminal investigation division. Prior he worked as a steelworker, tea blender and a number of other jobs. A graduate of Neshaminy High School, he graduated from the New England Institute of Law Enforcement Management, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. He attended Temple University and Penn State University among others. His poetry and fiction have been widely published in the small and electronic press as well as numerous newspapers and magazines. Twenty-one of his collections have been published. He published The Fox Chase Review (2008 – 2015). He is currently a contributing editor at North of Oxford .

reutter published several pieces in small magazines during the 1980’s and 1990’s but did not receive recognition until his association with Stonegarden.net publishing. The Jonesville Collection, fiction/poetry/essays was released as an ebook 2002 and in print 2006. Life Views another collection of fiction/poetry/essays was released as an ebook 2003 and in print 2007. Asphalt Road a poetry book was released in 2004 followed by a second edition in 2006. Following quickly on the success of the first three releases Persistencia Press released a poetry collaboration between reutter and Phil Primeau, Plain Speak/Sweet Speak as an ebook in 2006.
Blazevox Books released a poetry/short story collection, Stirring Within Poems and Tales from Mount Carmel in 2006. reutter returned to Stonegarden with the release of his poetry/short story collection, Broken Shells and Hope in 2008 followed by the poetry collections, Blue Collar Poet in 2009 and Carvings in 2010. Thugs, Con-men, Pigs and More, a short story collection was released in 2014 by Red Dashboard Press.
2019 brought the releases of the first two of a trilogy of poetry books published by Alien Buddha Press: Stale Bread and Coffee followed by Eating Raw Meat and Other Nuances of Life. The third volume, Farmer, Queens, Trains and Clowns was released November 3, 2020. Moonstone Press published Violence in My City centered on systemic violence in Philadelphia, October of 2019.

January of 2020 brought the release of the short story collection, House on the Edge of Town and Other Stories by Alien Buddha Press followed by Poems of the Pennypack released in September by Moonstone Press.
On October 5, 2021 Alien Buddha Press released reutter’s sixteenth collection, Thunder, Lightning and Urban Cowboys. In April of 2022, Holy&Intoxicated Press published the broadside- A Poem For Ukraine: Shevchenko Stirs in His Grave. On July 29, 2022 Alien Buddha Press released Selected Stories 1990-2022 by g emil reutter. In April of 2023 Alien Buddha Press released Until Next Time – Selected Poems 1990-2022. On January 28, 2024 Moonstone Press released the chapbook, Glint – Down the Shore Poems.
2025 brought the release of On the Other Side of Goodbye , a collection of poems/flash/stories that was published on January 2nd by Alien Buddha Press. In response to events in the United States and throughout the world, reutter’s latest poetry chapbook, Distance to Infinity: Poets are the voice of the people in times of struggle, times of war, times of oppression was released on October 2, 2025. On March 8, 2026, The poetry book, Making America Sad Again – Trump and the Syncophants will be released.
reutter has presented his poetry while touring the east coast of the United States, Texas, and Arizona for over thirty years at art galleries, libraries, universities, colleges, coffee houses, book stores, bars, museums, festivals, parks and other venues in the mainstream and the backwaters of America. I’ve known g. emil reutter for 30 years. He has NEVER CEASED to AMAZE ME, as well as, ALL that read his writings. They are Thoughtful, Smooth, Macabre, Warmly Written on a Teaching Curve that Tantalizes the mind &Twitches the the Brain. A Very GIFTED, Sensitive Author. Dear g emil reutter; Thank you for your review of NO TAB FOR SULLY. I can see that you did your homework. I like it when the reviewer knows his/her stuff. I appreciate the remarks and the effort that went into the writing. Appreciate too how you linked the story to the broader aspects of the culture–those Watergate years that sunk the ship of state.
