And after a long life in music, or should  I say grappling with playing music, I begin yet again. The first flush of hope generated by a new teacher, the first little glimmer  that after struggling with the violin for three years I might at last be going to learn how to get a good sound out of it. To learn how to hold it, to allow the wrist and hands to relax, to keep the bow straight (my nemesis) to learn why I’m making those squeaky thready sounds.
