About
Basically I started out ranting about my interests, astronomy, politics, history and the like, later I became brave enough to include some creative writing, now password protected, if you want the password, just ask me, I am likely to give it to you unless you are a ne’er-do-well or creationist. I also went into the horse slaughtering issue, something important locally. These topics may still appear occassionally.
Then I left for awhile. Now I have come back and the focus will be more on architecture and historic preservation. Detailing some of the stories I have collected in my travels across Illinois. In this state alone I have visited more than 150 historic sites and buildings that are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, more than 15 National Historic Landmarks, and dozens of other sites. Oh yeah, I am in DeKalb, Illinois, in case you were wondering.
I have taken thousands of photos during my travels, many of which have carried me to little known, off the beaten path sites, places I will never forget. I have picked up some expertise through my research on these places. My goal is now to bring some of this to you, I was once bored with my native state, that is no longer the case. Join me.
Who is this Dr. Gonzo person?
Dr. Gonzo was the psuedonymn invented by author and gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson for himself, as a Doctor of Journalism or Gonzo journalism.
It became the name for his attorney, Oscar Zeta Acosta, in the 1971 novel “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.”
However for our purposes, it’s just me, Andy McMurray.
