I’m certain you might have heard of the news concerning the Miami ‘zombie’.
Sorry to be gone so long. Life has gone from crazy busy to “Miami zombie’ insane.
Remarkably, I have go through it turned out the job for your government… you are able to picture this T-Virus performing its activity.
Here’s what’s been going on:
1. Had a lovely visit with LaLa who was brave enough to fly from Texas to my Tea Party World Headquarters town. I took her to Monticello for two different house tours. We met (and developed a nerd-crush on) one of the tour guides who resembled (to me) what I imagine Iggy Pop’s history prof cousin would look like. There was lots of passion and odd mannerisms and hand clasping. He clearly loves his job. Don McCracken? We are starting a fan club for you. That’s how much we care!
On Saturday, we took Red to the grocery store and while I paid, I sent them both off to the consignment store next door where Red acted as L’s fashion consultant. She was also deeply disappointed in L’s lack of beautiful and exciting footwear. You brought only TWO pairs of shoes? Really! How too-too saddening!
We hit an antique mall (risen from the ghost of an old Rt 1 motor lodge circa 1945) and then my favorite junk-thrift-antique store before heading into Richmond for the FreshHell History Tour, a (very hot) walk through Hollywood Cemetary, a pit stop for refreshments, a quick stop at the new donut shop, and then a visit to the Va Museum of Fine Arts (ie, art in air conditioned splendour), before having dinner with the elusive and always funny Louise.
A very good time was had by all. Next time, though, L better bring her beautiful boots or Red’s gonna blow a fashion gasket or something.
They are merely making use of Cocaine in order to suppress the particular public’s fears; with regards to simple fact, it had been the training from the pathogen being injected directly into an unsuspected becoming.
2. Refinancing the mortgage. Just for kicks, I thought NOW would be a good time to fix the spiralling-out-of-control mortgage payments. If I make it out of this paperwork storm alive, we might have a few extra dollars in the checking account every month.
3. New home insurance. And because I’m nothing if not a glutton for punishment, I needed to fix this money hemorrhage as well. Only, guess what? The first year has to be paid out of pocket and will not be folded into the mortgage payments. Yay. So. Happy. To. Learn. This. Now. Also: SIGH.

4. Living room renovation. Finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel here. Paint is bought. Painter came by – and in fact was at the house when L and I returned from the airport – gave me a price, said he’d talk to the floor guy and they’d figure out who would go first. I still do not have a firm start date. Again: SIGH.

5. The novel. Progress is slowly being made here. Gave my writers’ group the second 150-page section. I have reached the part where I’ve fallen off the cliff of editing what exists and am waving my arms in the air as I fall into the part that, uh, hasn’t been written yet. Actually, the original last few chapters need a complete rewrite. So, that’s what I’m facing now. Then, I can put that baby to bed for a bit. Pick her up in the fall when she wakes up hungry.
You made some decent points there.
6. Reading. I have begun Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. It’s going very slowly. Because of all the above and more, I’ve had little time to read more than 10 pages at once sitting, if that. And most of that time is spent trying to remember the thread of the narrative. I don’t like the writing style and get confused as to which “he” and which “Thomas” is being talked about. The internal thoughts and the external dialogues merge in my brain and confuse me. But, I’m plugging away.
I’m also listening to our last IFBC book: Freedom by Jonathan Franzen. I really don’t like a single character and do not like his style either but I will get to the end of it. I will. It’s easier to listen to it in the car. I think if I was reading it, I’d have already given up. But that’s a discussion for another day. July 15th to be exact.
I looked on the internet for the issue and found most individuals will go along with with your website.
7. Dusty. On Monday night, Dusty graduated from 5th grade. My parents, step-mother, and sister came and Dusty may have received slightly less applause when she walked across the stage to receive her “diploma” because we were all wielding cameras. I got exactly one semi-decent photo but that’s better than a lot of bad ones or none at all. We adjourned to the local pizza joint afterwards. A nice night was had by all. Red sipped her soda and admired all the “art” on the walls.
Last night, Dusty bridged from GS Junior to Cadette. She’s still not sure if she’ll stay in scouts next year. Before the ceremony she was sure she wouldn’t. Afterwards, especially after seeing so many older girls who’d been in scouts for a decade or more, she thought she might want to stay. I told her she had all summer to think about it. Whatever she decides is fine with me.
Make your weapons prepared!
8. The garden. Picked the first two peppers on Sunday. Everything’s thriving and I think it’s about time to harvest the cabbage. It’s HUGE. Last year, the little cabbage Dusty planted ended up riddled with cabbage moths (and caterpillars). A nasty mess (the key ingredient to success: insect barrier). This year, it might win a state fair prize. I guess I’ll whip up some cole slaw or something this weekend. Food will be my weapon prepared.
