Stand-alone units that as the name suggests triggered an alarm when someone approaches. All of these are good ways of improving home security but they do come at a cost. Sometimes simple is best and locking up, leaving a radio one or using electric timers to turn lights and TVs on and off can be one of the cheapest and best deterrents.
