Fifty by Fifty
On a Quest to Eat at the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Before I Turn 50
There is a scene in the movie, Ratatouille, when Anton Ego, the inimitable food critic, takes a bite of the titular dish. He is instantly transported to his childhood. There is something about being in that moment. The rest of the world disappears. I can no longer hear. I can no longer see. All I can do is taste. And it is pure pleasure.
This is the moment I seek.
This journey will take me around the world, to visit 50 of the World’s Best Restaurants . I am no food critic. I have no sway. I’m just a guy who enjoys good food and enjoys to travel. This web site is a history of that journey.

The Quest
In 2018, shortly after my 44th birthday, I set myself a goal to visit 50 of the
World's 50 Best Restaurants before I turn 50.
A new list comes out every year, with new restaurants added to the list and some restaurants falling off the list. I can visit any restaurant that has been on the list since I started this challenge.
Why?
I love to travel and I love great food. The list provides an excuse to travel to new places around the world all while enjoying some of the best food on the planet.
