Wow.. a whole page to write about myself?! Um…. er…. Deep breath.. ok I can do this.. it’s just like writing my thingy for Match.com 😀
I was born right at the end of the sixties ( and proud of it! ) and 5 minutes before my darling brother ( even prouder of that one ).
I spent the next part of my life either winding my big brother up, being teased by said brother, getting darling twin to help me beat up tease big brother, pretending to be an angel etc etc.. you know the normal childhood stuff.
I was a bit of a tom boy, I suppose having brothers and no sisters meant I didn’t really relate that well to girls ( no offense meant but girls can be really bitchy! )
I sort of dragged through school, I was fine at junior school ( average scores of 98% ) but as soon as I was taken away from my twin and sent to an all girls school it all went downhill. Finally leaving school with no ambition or desires to go on to uni.
I left home shortly after then also ( 16 and ruling the world ) and spent a few years pretty much on the run from my parents. Luckily I grew up and realised they weren’t the evil things I had thought they were and we made friends all over again.
These two little monsters are my contribution to the overpopulation of the world. James is now 23 and Ben’s 19!
Although I tried to be a good parent, I suppose dragging bringing up two children on my own was damned hard work. I managed perfectly well until Ben arrived, boy was he hard work!
Don’t get me wrong, I love both my boys, but Ben was ( and still is ) a challenge. Once he was diagnosed with ADHD, mild Autism, dyslexia, dispraxia and eventually a mild form of tourettes I thought things might get a bit easier. Knowing what was wrong and stupidly thinking we’d get help to overcome his issues. However eventually he decided he was big enough etc to make his own decisions, big enough yes!
He’s now got to be over 6ft 4 ( this picture is a few years old – oddly I don’t have many pictures of us all ).
Anyway after struggling with Ben for the past few years I decided it was time for his father to step in. At least that way when Ben decided to start punching doors / walls etc he could deal with it better than me! he didn’t last 6 months and came crawling home…. and is still here 😦
So what do I do for fun? Well I’m a bit of a rugby girl, and when po
ssible I like to get out with the girls and go and watch my team play ( Bath ). Or even go and watch England play. We try and go on Ladies tour once a year, the kidneys needed a rest last year so I didn’t go. Infact pretty much my main social life is around rugby.
A couple of years ago I lost two of the most important people in my life and my life went into a completely different direction. I decided it was time to move on and find myself a partner, I think I was lucky and found Brian. We bought a house together at the beginning of this year and we’re now learning to live together. And most importantly I’m learning how to cope with girls! Most importantly teenage girls!
2013 update….
Boy it’s been a busy time!
We finally tied the knot… that was last August…
I’m a real Granny now….
The teenage stepdaughters are both amazing… I teared up one evening when they both announced I was the best step-mum they could ever have wished for! And they’re not really teens now…. P is off to uni in September…
Ben is still the same though – hey ho we can’t have it all.

Well, hello there lady!
I thought I’d pop by and let you know I’m adding you to my blog roll. Figure if you are raw enough to read my shit you’re a keeper. ha..ha..
Few things…I understand the tomboy thing, and my friends have always been mainly men. Could have something to do with the fact I’m a huge bitch and like to rule the kitty box, who knows….any-hoo….I think this is the most girlfriends I’ve ever had since being on my blog. Weeee!! I’m learning to adapt. Another: I just gotta say have fun with those teenage girls. Mine is now grown and what fun she was when I had her at home. Mood-swing-mania! Everything was exaggerated to the hundredth degree. Good luck!
Enjoying your blog. Also raised a son with Tourettes. If you’d like to trade war stories sometime let me know. Keep up the good writing. it’s good therapy don’t you think?
Hello, egills. Just want to apologize for something. I just noticed a comment you made on my post from late July “Short but Sweet”. I didn’t realize it was there until now. In my bio I promise everyone I will respond to every comment and I intend to do that. Don’t know how I missed this one. Anyway, thank you for reading and I’ll try to be more attentive in the future.
Did you ever get the eye surgery?
Hi
Just found you via another blog! Always good to read about someone ‘new’ well new to me.
Love your about me. And you give me hope as I face the challenge of ‘starting over’ when I least expected to do so.
