My LuLu.com Storefront… advice?

black birdfall leaves centerblack bird

I’m in the process of setting up my LuLu.com storefront. I’ve had my account like 3 years now, but I never got around to editing before! I am getting ready to edit my “private” books to “public” status, so I’m getting my store front ready.

Anyways, why I’m writing this: I’ve been browseing everyone elses storefronts trying to get an idea for what others are doing. Most of the ones I’ve found are basicly plain white. Several I’ve run across have had the colors edited.

A few however, does not seem to be the standard storefront. The layout is a bit differant and seems to be made with a template. They have a boarder around the edge, which is very differant from any of the others I’ve seen, but what struck me was many of them have background images. I believe these to be the old LuLu templates that aren’t being used anymore.

I have a nice background image that would look great on my storefront, but I can’t figure out how to make it come up, after trying out all the edit features, I came to the conclusion that it just was not possible to do.

I had one of old style storefronts with a templated theme on it. I remember those from back when I first signed up. I originaly had mine set to the one with the red dragon, cause it had asked me to choose one when I signed up for LuLu.

(boy has the site changed since than… back than they were boasting that they had just published the 100th title… was is it at today? Wow what a change, I had no idea LuLu had expanded so much since I had last visited the site. When I joined, the home page showed cartoon drawings of the 4 folks that were running the site, I don’t seen that around any more, so I’m guessing the staff is too big now to show them all on the front page?)

Anyways, when I just came back on here, after about a 3 year absence, have recovered from the shock of how big this tiny little website became, and now I’m off to build my storefront. However, this is where I got to coming to your guys on the forums for advise.

My red dragon themed store template is gone, and I had a message saying the old storefront templates are no longer used, and was than directed to the editing page.

So, I told myself, I’ll go ask about the background image thing on the forums. (LuLu didn’t have the forums back when I signed up either… if they had, I may never have stopped visiting the site all those years ago.) which I did, and now here I am back on my blog, here to ask if any of you out there know if there is a way to use templates or background images on the LuLu storefronts?

I know how to build html and java templates for websites, it’s something that I do, however, I have not seen anyway for such templates to be installed on the LuLu storefront. I have tried pasting html templates into the html edit boxes, but that doesn’t work.

So my question is, for those of you with images-picture backgrounds on your storefronts: How did you get them there?

If you got them there because they are an old LuLu.com themed storefronts, can I ask: Why did my LuLu themed storefront disapear and yours did not? Why was I told they are no longer in use, and mine was deleted off of my storefront, if other members are still useing them and theirs were not deleted? Anyone know why that is?

One last thing:

Wierd thing, I noticed when I post on the forums… it shows the date I joined/started posting on the forums, not the date I joined LuLu.com. Why is that?

Also, if any of you want to, could you take a look at my LuLu.com Storefront and let me know what you think about the layout and colors? I’m useing my signiture colors that you see so often on my websites, but for some reason never on this blog: Orange with pink trim.

There are no books for you to buy yet, as none of my manuscripts have been uploaded to LuLu yet, so you can’t buy anything from my LuLu account yet. Right now I’m just setting up shop, tweeking the layout and colors and fonts and such, and looking for any suggestions while it is still in the editing stage.

What’s your take on this? I’d love to hear what you have to say about this post. Leave a comment and share your views!

Colors

my fave color changes with my mood, but more than not it turns out to be orange… why? not sure really, it’s an odd color, you don’t see it very often… no body but me and Etoile wear it, I’m the only person in my area that has an orange (and metal flake too) car, plus I own an orange MudBug… my walls are pained a pale orange creme with lemon chiffon yellow trim, I have orange and yellow curtains… I just seem to surround myself with orange things, because it’s such a cheerful and happy color that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside

when I’m not in love with orange, my fave color sometimes changes to red, in the brightest, bloodest shades… most of my cloths ae red, my fave gown is made of bright eye popping red velvet, in the winter, my favoe color always seems to become various shades of blue, that’s when I usualy start wearing my blue stripe empire gown with bell sleeves and train, and my royal blue velvet burnoose (a huge long trained cape with volumptuous hood).… these 3 are the colors that always remain my faves, I just keep going back and forth between them, but once in a great while a forth one shows up: olivine or peridot green… it’s so nice and peaceful… when I’m tense or stressed out, I tend to surround myself with olivine greens which bring comfort and tranquility and peace of mind

1971 MTD MudBug

Okay,

It’s been raining for three days, the snow is almost gone (finally) and I can see my MudBug again. Now I’ve got spring fever I want to drive it through the woods, but it’ ain’t running, and I have no idea what is wrong with it.

(It’s an ATV) Years ago, before they started production, my Grandmother (Helen Ricker-Allen) won a 1971 MTD 3-Wheel MudBug in Apricot Fizz Metal Flake. I am told that this model was a “proto-type” and the very first MudBug ever made (#1).

She gave it to my father, and he gave it to me. It’s a special item that our family is very proud to own and it’s treated like an heirloom. I still have this MudBug, but it is no longer running. I would like to restore it, but I know nothing about mechanics.

The problem is, I have looked high and low for parts and can’t even find anyone who has ever heard of this ATV. I tried looking it up on some web sites and only found one site that mentioned it and found out that it was made from 1971-1973 and came in 2 colors, oragne like mine or lime green. It says that production was stopped because ATV’s where not thought to be something anyone would ever use! (If only they had held out for a few more years!) The web site showed pictures of MudBugs, showing all of the models done each year…and not a one of them looked like mine. Mine is more square, has a more upright back, and is much larger than the ones shown.

I don’t know if any of you guys here know anything about ATV’s or not, but I figure it can’t hurt to ask. My question is, since I was told mine was a “proto-type” made before production started for sale to the public, is it possible that I have the only one like it? Is that why mine looks differant from the others? If this is so, how would I go about restoring it?

Does anyone out there have an MTD MudBug…a year, any model?

Any info anyone could give me would help greatly. Thanks!

P.S.

Does anyone know the value of an MTD MudBug, how many where made, and where I could get some more of them? (I would like to collect them—but, they seem to be quite rare and hard to track down. I’ve yet to find one for sale anywhere.)
