Data Entry??? Anyone know?

I was on this work-at-home forum today, and several folks were talking about how they freelance write and are getting paid $300 – $4,000 per day to write what they are calling “data entry”. They had a link to their website, which had a guestbook, so I started talking to them about it.

Well, at first they were talking like they were the ones making the money, but after I got to asking them questions, I came to realize that they were just quoting ad-hype. They were very evasive about telling me how data entry writing worked and just recommended that I click on the links to find out more info. I hate it when you ask someone for more info and instead of answering your question they just say “buy the book!”… honey, I don’t buy a book that I have not first held in my hand and flipped through the pages of, so it better be on my local library of bookshop shelves if you plan on me buying it, because I want to know what is in that book, before I pay money for it.

They did finally admit that they had yet to try it, and that they were making money off selling the e-book, that supposedly told you how to write data entry. Well, if they had not yet tried it, than why are they asking me to try it?!?!

The book by the way costs $349.99 but is on sale for the “amazing low price” of $99 today only (no matter which day you visit the website!) And after doing a Google search, I visited more than 20 different sites, all different addresses, but all with the exact same content, pictures, and one day only sale.

Well, I wonder, if they can make $4,000 a day writing data entry, than why are they settling for selling the e-book instead? If I was them, and if it was real and not a scam, I’d be doing the data entry not the eBook, cause $4,000 is WAY more than you’d make with a $99 ebook! LOL! Sounds pretty fishy to me.

Well, I guess you can tell, they sound like scammers, so I gave up on them and their advice, but it did get me to wondering, is there really such a thing as data entry freelancing and does anyone here do it and know how I coulkd find out how to get started?

From what I understand of reading their info, writing data-entry, basicly means, writing 3-4 sentance ad clips for companies such as Avon, Macys, Sears, WalMart, etc.

So, I guess my question is, does anyone know of a way to break into a data entry freelance career, without buying scammers-e-books to tell you how to do it?

I tried searching Google, but that only directed me to even more “get rich quick scam sites”; nothing helpful there.

Advice?
