ETHZ Über Alles:
Misconduct by Swiss Professor
Our colleague Cindy Smith, a [post-doc] project coordinator at Creating a Sustainable Future, CASF, contacted the coauthors of Steps Towards a 2000-Watt Society on December 12, 2007 requesting clarification concerning the information they had earlier provided.
Unfortunately, there was no reply to her inquiry. Instead, her email bounced back marked “spam” by at least one of the authors, Philip Rudolph Von Rohr, who is a professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETHZ).
In a subsequent email, Dr Liz Garrett, Director of Programs at CASF, expressed her dismay at the unprecedented level of hostility shown by the authors for no apparent reason other than Ms. Smith’s making a legitimate inquiry regarding a public document, which von Rohr had coauthored. Dr Garrett’s complaint was also ignored.
CASF Members unanimously and unequivocally condemn the “untermenschen” treatment of their colleagues and demand a formal apology from the President of ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich) and the co-authors of Steps Towards a 2000-Watt Society
The Members further demand that Philip Rudolph Von Rohr be removed from his professorial post, to avoid campaign action against ETH Zurich.
Signed unanimously by Members of
Creating A Sustainable Future, CASF
Copy of above note was emailed to the following individuals at ETH Zurich
Ralph A. Eichler, President
Gerhard Schmitt, Vice President
Heidi Wunderli-Allenspach, Rector

Are these the type that are charged with “saving” the world, or even Switzerland?

Hello My Name is Richard, For My First Post I Would Pose A Question That May Dispel A Myth; As Follows…Which Would ASPIRATE MORE OXYGEN, One Square Kilometer Of (managed grassland) Or (existing uncontaminated rain forest). An Answer With Data Would Be Appreciated. thanks.

Hello Richard, A discussion concerning the rate of aspiration of trees is beyond the scope of this blog.

Any recommendation concerning soil erosion control would be greatly appreciated at FAO and UNEP. See portals at
