ECES holds classes in two of the Faculty of Arts buildings, the Main Building, Náměstí Jana Palacha 2 (MB) and at Malé Náměstí 144/1 (MN).
The main building of Charles University, Faculty of Arts is situated in the beautiful historic old town of Prague near the Vltava River. The building was acquired by Charles University in 1928. Designed by architect, Josef Sakař, it was built between 1924-1930 in the Neoclassicist style. The building is an example of the most conservative stream in Prague architecture of the 1920s and despite its undeniable urban value, it has been the object of criticism by modern architects. ECES has an office in the International Relations Department (room 128), as well as two classrooms in this building.
The ECES office at Malé Náměstí 144/1 is located on Old Town Square, in between the Staroměstská and Můstek metro stations. ECES has offices on the 1st floor of this building, as well as a student lounge and classrooms.

Classrooms
All classrooms are located in the center of Prague close to tram and metro stops. Each classroom is fully equipped with advanced technology (computer, internet, projector and movie player).
Jan Palach Library
A new library contains three study rooms with Wi-Fi access, a computer lab, group study rooms, self-service copiers, and rest areas. Students may use this center to study, access online databases, and to use the computers during the week. ECES also maintains its own resources for ECES students located in our Na Příkopě office. View our inventory of books and films here.
Computer Labs
Students have access to computer labs in the university buildings, where they may print, copy, and scan materials for a small fee. Wi-Fi is available in the university buildings.
Cafeterias
There is a student bistro located in the Main Building, close to the Jan Palach library. The bistro serves hot meals during lunch, as well as sandwiches, pastries, coffee, and other items throughout the day. At certain times, students receive a discount with their student ID cards, but all items are to be paid for with cash or card.
There are other restaurants and cafés located throughout the city center in Prague offering inexpensive lunch menus, sandwiches, and take-away options.
Student IDs
All students will receive a Charles University student ID providing access to university services as well as discounts to local attractions and restaurants. Students (age of 26 and under) can also receive a discounted three-month transportation pass.
Information and Advisory Center
Charles University, Faculty of Arts has its own advisory center to help students “feel at home abroad.” The center provides assistance in dealing with academic, personal, and interpersonal problems. The ECES staff is also available for any additional assistance that students may need in order to better adjust to life in the Czech Republic.
Student Clubs
The university has several student-led clubs which ECES students may join. The International Club (IC CUNI) organizes special events and the Tandem Project, learning a language for free with another student in exchange for teaching English. Additional clubs focusing on specials interests, such as the orchestra and choir club, are also available for students.
ECES recommends that students sign up for the International Club’s Buddy Programme. More information about the IC CUNI and buddy programme can be found here.
