Students who will be studying with ECES through an agreement with one of our partner institutions may have different payment instructions. These students should first contact their study abroad advisers or ECES staff prior to submitting any payments.
Tuition Fees
Summer 2025: $2,400 USD** per session
Fall 2025: $6,300 USD*
J-Term 2026: $1,700 USD
Spring 2026: $6,300 USD*
*Early Decision applicants will receive an 8% discount on the program fee. A nonrefundable deposit of $500 USD will be required before the regular application deadline (applies to semester fees only). This discount applies only to students paying Charles University directly for tuition payments.
**Summer and J-Term program students must make a full fee payment within 30 days of their acceptance to the program. Students who receive their program acceptance notification on or after May 1 (summer)/October 15 (J-Term) must make a full fee payment by May 30 (Summer)/October 31(J-Term).

*Prices are the same for double or single rooms. In the event that more students request single rooms than we have rooms available, student preferences are submitted to the dorm and single rooms are assigned at the discretion of the dormitory. Cost in USD is an estimate based on current exchange rates and it is a subject to increase based on inflation.

Payment Options
The tuition fee is due before the registration period begins. For those studying through an exchange agreement or student education agency, the fees will be due according to the home university or institution. Detailed instructions will be provided upon acceptance to the program.
Tuition Cancellations and Reimbursements
Semester Program: The full tuition payment is due prior to the start of course registration. If a student withdraws for the program after course registration, s/he will receive a 50% refund on the tuition fee. If the student withdraws from the program within one month of the official arrival day, s/he will receive back 25% of the tuition payment. There will be no refunds given after the official arrival day. In the case of tuition refunds due to withdrawal from the program, the student is responsible for paying any bank transfer fees associated with the reimbursement.
Summer Program: If a student cancels their program registration by the end of May, 80% of their fees will be refunded (minus any applicable bank fees). If a student cancels their program registration in June, but before the official arrival day, 40% of their fees will be refunded (minus any applicable bank fees).
J-Term Program: If a student cancels their program registration by the end of November, 80% of their fees will be refunded (minus any applicable bank fees). No refunds will be issued after December 1
Housing Payment Cancellations and Reimbursements
Deadline to Cancel Housing: 40 days before the official arrival day.
In order to cancel the university housing reservation with a 100% refund, please submit a written cancellation request to ECES no later than 40 days before the ECES official arrival date. The request must be sent by e-mail to eces@ff.cuni.cz. You will receive a confirmation e-mail from the ECES Program. Payment will be returned in the manner in which you submitted it within four to six weeks minus the transfer fee.
If you cancel the housing after this deadline, you will be charged a contractual penalty equaling the deposit. After the official arrival day, no refunds will be given for any housing fee.
The ECES Semester Tuition Fee Includes:
- Course tuition (up to 7 courses, including the mandatory Intensive Czech Language course)
- Airport transport on the official arrival day
- 24-hour telephone emergency assistance provided by ECES staff
- Charles University student ID card, which guarantees access to university facilities and some discounts
- 90-day transportation pass valid for metro, trams and buses in Prague
- Farewell Party
- Two excursions during orientation (includes transport, guide, and entrance fees)
- Czech Intensive course textbook
- Field trips and museum visits included in the course syllabi
- Option to participate in faculty-led ECES weekend excursions at a reduced cost
- Pre-Departure orientation and visa advising (if applicable)
- On-site orientation
- Access to computer labs
- Access to the university libraries
- One official transcript sent to your institution or program coordinator
The ECES Summer Tuition Fee Includes:
- Course tuition (up to 3 courses per 4-week session)
- Survival Czech Language Seminar (non-credit bearing)
- Airport transport on the official arrival day
- 24-hour telephone emergency assistance provided by ECES staff
- Charles University student ID card, which guarantees access to university facilities
- 30-day transportation pass (per 4-week session)
- Farewell Party
- One excursion during orientation (includes transport, guide, and entrance fees)
- Field trips and museum visits included in the course syllabi
- Option to participate in faculty-led ECES weekend excursions at a reduced cost
