The New Irondale Center space
The new Irondale Center, to be located in the old (and quite grand) Sunday School room of the Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, is having an opening party this Saturday, Oct 11, from 1pm-10pm. There will be entertainment and beer from Brooklyn Brewery. The center will produce theater performances and provide educational outreach to the community. Looks to us like a fantastic addition to the hood.

But each time I go, it seems less reasonable. No joke, they tried to charge me over $3 for one plum recently, and $4 for a baguette.
It hasn’t driven me away completely — the cheese and fish selections are fantastic, and I love their salads etc. But it’s not the regular grocery destination I thought it would be when it opened.
