Religion
I'm Catholic.
I do a tiny bit of daily prayer and I'm very accepting of God's plan.
In April 2023, during an all-school retreat, I suddenly went to confession and started practicing Catholicism again. It felt like a dream. I took initiative in starting going to Mass again despite my family stopping long before.
I named one of my Rust libraries "i_love_jesus". It's unrelated to Jesus.
Interests
Most of the time, at least when I have a lot of free time, what I'm most passionate about doing is making things on my computer (computer programming, etc.) and things involving humor (making YTPs, participating in improv comedy, etc.). Sometimes other things like writing fictional stories. My hobbies vary a lot.
Singing is my favorite way to be musical. With some songs, singing in a choir is a magical experience. I'm part of Outreach Choir at ASU. We sing to elderly people at assisted living communities.
I spontaneously go to the gym every 1 to 2 weeks.
Occasionally, I find it hard to take a break during computer programming, because of excitement about a possible improvement to code.
A little bit of the things I find interesting and beautiful: rabbits, the outdoors, the Catholic Church, and the libre software movement.
It's very hard to provide a broad view of my interests.
Personality
I'm either ambivert or introvert.
I enjoy one-to-one conversation if it's with someone who talks about interesting things and has an enjoyable and comforting presence.
I'm often quiet in big groups, but some things I do make me seem brave.
In the five-factor model, I definitely have at least conscientiousness and openness to experience.
I think I can change the world.
I'm described as non-judgmental.
I dread sleeping, showering, etc.
Political beliefs
For the Unites States at least:- The top priority right now is to end the first-past-the-post voting system. That's what will enable someone like Peter Sonski to win some day.
- Deportation is rarely or never the right choice.
- No one deserves the death penalty.
- Today's monetary economic system is repulsive, even if it's the best system so far. Nearly everything the government does to it is bandaid solutions, and it's hard for me to know which bandaid solutions to support. I am interested in the Venus Project but my opinion of it is complicated. The government should stop doing things that unjustly hinder progress away from use of money, such as property tax and allowing some things to be patented.
- Local authority is usually better. Simplicity and safety are not valued enough in federal government.
- Politicians are obligated to declare and pursue a goal of abortions never happening. "Safe, legal, rare" is not okay. Abortion bans must be carefully designed to not make doctors afraid of getting in trouble for something other than abortion.
- Medical schools must be required to teach about alternatives to unethical things, to prevent things like doctors falsely thinking an abortion is necessary, doctors recommendin g birth control pills in too many cases, doctors yelling at someone saying to get sterilized, etc.
- We have a duty to vote in every election and fill the entire ballot.
- I don't know how to label myself, other than independent.
Other
Currently at Arizona State University for software engineering degree. A software engineering career would be good. Although providing for my family will be my top priority, I really really hope I can do that without helping make non-libre software.
I will soon start a comedy club at ASU. The other ones are at a different campus and would have made Jesus weep.
During Reddit's API controversy, I started contributing to Lemmy's server code to help it compete against Reddit. Got promoted to maintainer. (I worked my way up from "I dont see how this improves anything" to "we want to give you write permissions to the repo"!) Still unpaid. I improve performance, improve code style, review others' changes, implement part of new features, provide requested assistance, etc.
To reduce traffic, costs, and emissions, I avoid having premarital car. I usually use feet, bicycle, or bus.

Dating or romance or whatever to call it
I'm single.
I'm probably open to long distance relationship, because marriage with the right person is awesome enough to warrant that kind of patience and effort if needed.
I definitely want to enter the life of a Catholic woman who wants to raise Catholic children, will uphold Catholic teachings related to marriage, and is close enough to my age. I don't know for sure what kind of woman would be best for me, but here's a list of what are likely green flags. They're way too broad to be seen as strict criteria, but if the entire list exactly descibes you then it's a big neon sign for you to pursue a connection with me.
