Dr Doug Belshaw
Work with me
👋 Hi, I'm Doug. Here's my CV showing the range of things I've done so far in my career.
I do the majority of my work through We Are Open Co-op (WAO) at the intersection of learning, technology, and community.
For example:
- Helping the DDaT team at Amnesty International UK with the strategy and implementation of a new community platform for activists
- Guiding educational bodies including Skills Development Scotland and the Awards Network towards national system of Verifiable Credentials
- Creating an AI Literacies framework for the BBC Responsible Innovation Centre for Public Media Futures
- Working with the Digital Credentials Consortium hosted at MIT on storytelling and communication
- Collaborating with Participate on creating a Community of Practice around Open Recognition
- Coming up with a series of principles for Friends of the Earth around AI sustainability principles
- Writing a report for the Irish Technological University sector on the future of digital and micro credentials
- Designing and building a Critical Incident Training programme for Greenpeace International
Through Dynamic Skillset I also run workshops and do more boutique consultancy work. For example, I recently helped the Gates Foundation-funded SEBI-L team through a Theory of Change as part of their 10-year strategy
In addition to this, I regularly speak at conferences and appear on podcasts, with recordings of these featuring on my Speaking page
I recently completed a Postgraduate Qualification in Systems Thinking in Practice through the Open University so I'm keen to bring what I've learned from that into my work around levels of abstraction, boundary negotiation, and leverage points.
So in response to the dreaded question "what do you do?" I guess I could respond that I'm a combination of consultant, coach, service designer, project lead, facilitator and researcher. It's an odd mix, but I like it.
Think I might be able to help you?
