Portrait of Chloe Drawing
2014
18in x 24in Acrylic on Canvas
Here's a portrait I did of my daughter along with the initial charcoal drawing.
Some cats I was doodling during a meeting in 2012. These guys are reminiscent of the cats from *Buy One, Get One Free, a short cartoon I did with Charlie Bean and Carey Yost at Hanna-Barbera back in 1995.
Recently I had a cold that lasted a long time and this Robitussin DM bottle was always around so I drew it many times. The end.

China Marker & Crayon on Color Xerox Paper
* Scribble energy added by Phoebe Shank
Some cartoon guys from my crayon jam sessions with my little girls.
The naked ones are from a work meeting.
One of these guys previously appeared in My Instagram feed.
Bust of Woman
Oil on Canvas
9in x 12in
2012
Last year in May I started to work with oil paint again for the first time since high school. (27 years?!) This was my first little experiment.
More crayon drawing time with the little ladies that run around in my house.
Extra lines courtesy Phoebe.
Self Portrait in Crayon
2012
Crayon on Color Copier Paper
8.5" x 11"
More drawing time with my daughters.
These are Hipstamatic photos of a painting that's been kicking around my studio for 2 years now. I recently pulled it out to work on it some more. These photos are more contrast-y and saturated than the original piece.
Acrylic on Panel
I love to sit with my girls and draw with crayons.
They are surprisingly fun and expressive, but it's clear that some manufacturers cheap out on certain colors and there isn't much consistency in the way they perform from color to color. But that adds to the serendipity of it.

Oil on Canvas
This painting has been finished for almost 3 months and through one thing or another I haven't been able to find the time to get it up on my blog.
This is my first oil painting in 27 years. I expect more to come, though I'm not giving up acrylics. Using one medium really makes me appreciate the other.
The "framed" drawing is a funny pad of paper my daughter has where every page has a different frame printed on it. We were drawing together one morning with her markers and my other daughter decided to add to my sketch with some smashed up strawberry. I like what it adds to it.
