Project Director: Dr. Alexandra Chassanoff is an Assistant Professor at the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (UNC SILS) where she teaches and conducts research on community-driven approaches to archives and born-digital heritage. She has spent the last fifteen years studying the wicked problems of digital preservation, often in embedded/applied settings with library technologists, archivists, curators, and scholars. Her research has appeared in The American Archivist, Archival Science, the International Journal of Digital Curation, and the Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology (JASIST).
Graduate Research Assistant: Ashley Rockenbach is completing her MSLS at UNC-Chapel Hill with a concentration in archives and records management. A historian and educator by training, she earned her PhD in African History from the University of Michigan in 2018. Her interest in archives builds from both her research as well as her participation in a multi-year collaboration between the University of Michigan and the Government of Uganda to catalog and preserve collections housed in the Ugandan National Archives in Kampala.
