His Love

TODAY’S VERSE
But each day the LORD pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.
Psalms 42:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What are you passionate about? What consumes you? What forces do you allow to shape your everyday experience? You have a choice, you know. You can decide what you will allow to guide you. The Psalmist chose to look at life through the lens of God’s mighty love. His love is there every day, waiting for your discovery. Jeremiah said that God’s mercies are new every morning. Here, the author says that every day God pours His unfailing love upon him. He couldn’t help but sing songs of praise and share life with Almighty God, who gave him life. Paul shares how the “love of Christ” controlled him. Likewise, God’s love for you is unlimited. It is unfailing. His grace is sufficient for all you need in this life. Don’t go another day without being fully conscious of it. That would be like living in paradise and never going outside. Don’t let that happen with God’s love. Step out into His love today. Soak in it. Spend time with God and let His love control your life.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank You for Your love. I thank You that Your love for me is unfailing. I ask that Your Holy Spirit would guide and direct my life and that the love of Christ would consume and control me. In Jesus’ name.

Freedom

TODAY’S VERSE
And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
Romans 8:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
David knew what it was to struggle with moral choices. Doing the right thing is not always easy. We struggle with all kinds of conflicting thoughts, attitudes, and emotions. Paul struggled this way. In the book of Romans, he wrote, “I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.” The good news is Paul knew where to look for help. Paul asks the question, “Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?” Both David and Paul knew the answer. God can set you and me free if we let Him. David cries out to God, “Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me.” Paul writes, “The power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin.” What a glorious thought. God, through the power of His Holy Spirit, enables you and me to be free from the tyranny of sin with all its guilt and shame. Through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the instruction from the word of God, and the encouragement of other believers, we can live the life God desires us to. Will we sin? Yes, but it doesn’t have to be our master. Our allegiance is to Christ, and He has set us free!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for forgiving me. Thank You for the power of the life-giving Holy Spirit that has freed me from the power of sin, guilt, and shame.
AMEN

Merry Christmas

TODAY’S VERSE
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace
Isiah 9:6

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Over the centuries, Christmas has become a time of giving. Families get together to share food and gifts. People donate toys so children around the world will have a gift. Even though Christmas has become so secularized, giving is all about Christmas. We are reminded in today’s verse that “unto us a child was born, unto us a son was given.” Jesus, the one whom Isaiah was talking about, said, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son. That whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.” But what good is giving if there is no receiving? God gave, have you received? Have you accepted the gift of God? If you have, on this very special day of the year, offer up a prayer of thanksgiving for the child that was born, died on the Cross, and rose again from the grave to be our Savior. If you haven’t today, you can ask Christ into your heart to forgive you of all your wrongdoing and be your Lord and Savior.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I come today and accept the gift only You can give. Thank your Jesus that you were born into this world to be our example of how to live and then gave up your life and rose again so we could receive your gift of eternal life. Thank Your Lord Jesus!
AMEN

Dear friends,

May God bless you on this special day and fill your hearts with joy and peace.

Praise Him

TODAY’S VERSE
Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven! Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!
Psalms 150:1-2, 6

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We often have so many pressing issues that it is easy to come to God and pour out our requests without saying anything of praise toward God. But when we forget to praise God, it is we who miss a blessing. Ironically, we come to bless God with our praises and are blessed in the process. Derek Prince once said, “If we only have ten minutes to pray, eight of them should be spent in praise!” There is so much we can praise God for today. Praise Him for His power. Praise Him for His glory. Praise Him for His provision. Praise Him for His love toward us. Praise Him for His death and resurrection. Praise Him for being our Almighty God. Who are we that God would allow us even to utter His name in praise, yet He does. He desires our praise and gratitude. Today, lift your voice in praise to Him. Let everything that is in us PRAISE THE LORD!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I confess I have not praised You as I should. I have become so occupied with this life that You have given me. So busy that I forget to stop and thank You for all You have done for me. So busy that I forget to praise You for who You are. Today, I come to say, “Thank-you!” Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. Thank You for all Your provision. Thank You for loving me and taking care of me. I stop now to praise You for Your majesty and power, for Your Holiness and unfailing love. I love You, Father God, and praise You today in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
AMEN

True Significance

TODAY’S VERSE
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!
Psalms 139:17-18

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Significance. How do you find it? The story goes that a man travels worldwide looking for treasure and, at the end of his life, comes back to his home village to die. After he dies, the next person buys his house and finds diamonds in the backyard. All the time he was traveling looking for riches, he had a diamond mine in his backyard. Isn’t that like us? We look all around our world to find love, acceptance, and significance. The truth is right in front of us. We are significant because God created us and loves us, period. David believed that God spent time thinking about him. You can, too. How? By believing today’s passage with your heart, not just your mind. Reread the words, and this time picture God feeling this way about you. “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, You have created all things, and yet, out of all that You have made from before time, You think about me. More than that, You love me. I am significant to You. Thank You, Lord! Help these thoughts fill my heart and shape my behavior today so I might return to You all my love and adoration. I praise You! In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Follow God’s Path

TODAY’S VERSE
Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Remember, O LORD, your compassion and unfailing love.
Psalms 25:4-6

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Life is a journey. We are not settlers in this world. We are called to go through life as an ambassador of heaven, a sojourner commanded to give away God’s peace and love. And the journey can get messy. That is why learning to navigate, solve problems, and discern what to do next is so important. David is crying out that God would direct his path. He said, “Lead me by your truth and teach me.” This is important. So many of our hardships, misdirection, and hurts are due to deception and misinformation. We need to pray that God would show us the truth and teach us through each experience. This is how we derive our faith and hope in Him. We succeed and make progress through experiential learning. David learned to put his hope in God and trusted that God’s compassion and love would not fail. God wants the same for you. Today, may God lead you and point out the road for you to follow. May you learn all about His compassion and unfailing love.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I need Your guidance today. Please show me what road to follow. Guide me by Your truth and teach me to trust You. I put my hope in You and Your compassionate, unfailing love. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Wait

TODAY’S VERSE
Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.
Psalms 27:14

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Is it no surprise that “wait” is only four letters. Doesn’t it often seem like a curse word? We would rather hear God say, “Yes, that is a great idea!” or “Certainly, anything else I can get you?” We want instant gratification. We want what we often wish with little consideration for other variables and become impatient if we don’t get it. Or what about the times when we have waited and waited? We pray, and seek God’s face, and still, there is no answer. The last thing we want to be told at that time is to “wait.” Yet, David insisted that part of our spiritual journey is learning to wait. David knew firsthand how hard it was to wait on God. He was named King by God but had to run and sleep in caves, running from the armies of Saul. David was brave and courageous repeatedly and waited on God to work things out. He encourages us to do the same. Life is often challenging; we have struggles on all sides. It may seem like God doesn’t care, perhaps like He is not even there, but be encouraged today. You are not alone. God knows your situation. Pray, trust, hope, and wait. Wait patiently for the Lord.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, waiting is so hard sometimes. I confess I get so impatient. Forgive me and help me to focus on Your love and to put my trust in You. Please help me to wait patiently and not to worry. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Happy New Year!

TODAY’S VERSE
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I love do-overs! A do-over is a blessing when things have been rough, and I need a new start. But even when things have been fantastic and the season ends, it is great to have the chance to do it all over again. I don’t know your situation. I don’t know what this last year has been for you, but I know this is a new beginning. Saint Paul was wise when he wrote, “I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.” We can do the same. We can go into 2023 trusting in the Lord with all our hearts. We don’t have to depend on our own understanding. Instead, if we seek His will, He will guide us and direct us in this new year. Today, let us come to this 2023 with faith and expectancy for all God has for us. He will show us the way.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You that you care about my future. I stand here at the beginning of 2023 and commit myself to you. I pray you will guide me and show me the path to take in this new year. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Happy New Year, and May God Bless You!

Merry Christmas

TODAY’S VERSE
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 6:9

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Today’s verse shares a Christmas message for today. We need this verse more than ever before. On this day we celebrate Jesus coming to earth as a baby. But, He was more than that! He is our wonderful counselor. He is wonderful because you can come to Him anytime with any concern. He will not judge; he will not mock or dismiss you. Jesus is our mighty God. His love is mighty; His power is mighty; and His wisdom is mighty. You can depend on Him. He is the everlasting Father. God knows all about us, and He wants to parent us as a loving Father and help us mature and become all that He created us to be. Finally, Jesus came as the Prince of Peace. Jesus loves you and wants to share with you His peace surpassing any peace you can imagine.

Merry Christmas to all of you that make up the Moment In The Word family. May you come to know Him this coming year as your wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, that you for coming to earth to be my Savior. Help me to know you more as the wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.
AMEN

Be Free

TODAY’S VERSE
If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
I John 1:8-9 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Today’s verse is one of my favorite passages. Why? Because it is so liberating. Liberating in the fact that I can own my sin. I don’t have to hide it, blame it on someone else, ignore it, or repress it. Instead, I can confess it. Liberating in its forgiveness. I can admit my sin without retribution, fear, condemnation, and shame. Why? Because God promises that if we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all wickedness. Today, let your confession of sin and His faithfulness to forgive and cleanse your conscience liberate you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, how thankful I am that I can come to You with all my wrongdoing and find that You are faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me from all my wickedness. How I praise You! In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
