Fear Not

TODAY’S VERSE
Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. Isaiah 43:1-2

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easy to get overwhelmed with life’s struggles. We begin to worry and lose our focus. We become overwhelmed and reach out in inappropriate ways to relieve the stress we have built up in our minds. Anxiety and worry are like that. Even though the majority of what we worry about will never happen, we obsess over the negative and soon are out of control with fear. But God has a better way. Instead of worry and anxiety, we can choose to trust Him. Isaiah tells us to “fear not” because God has redeemed us and summoned us by name. We do not need to fear because God offers us a deep personal relationship with Him. He promises us that when we “pass through the waters,” He will be with us. God has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us! So today, when you start to worry, when you begin to feel things are out of control, remember that God has not left you. He has not forsaken you. When you feel the pressures of the day building up stress, and you are tempted to give up, remember that He knows you by name; you are His. He has promised that when you go through difficulties, He will be with you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me not to fear. Help me not to worry. Instead, help me to remember that You will never leave me or forsake me. Thank You that You know me by name and that no matter what I go through today, You will be with me.
AMEN

Don’t Fear

TODAY’S VERSE
So don’t be afraid.
Luke 12:7 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The same message can have a different meaning depending on who says it. That is how it is with fear. It is one thing for someone who knows nothing of your situation to tell you not to fear and quite another for God, who knows everything about you, who controls the whole universe, who is all powerful and, more importantly, all loving, to tell you not to fear. Jesus has just told His disciples not to fear because God cares for the birds and that they are much more valuable to God than the birds. The same applies to you. It is true, God values you. And what He values, He cares for! So today, listen again to what God says to you, His precious, valuable creation that He deeply loves and adores. He says, “Don’t be afraid.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I am trusting You. Thank You for Your love. Thank You for valuing my very being. You give me comfort and hope, so today, I will not fear.
AMEN

Don’t Be Afraid; He Is Here

TODAY’S VERSE
Don’t be afraid. I am here!
John 6:20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The disciples had just witnessed the feeding of 5,000 people from a few fish and loaves of bread. What a miraculous event! That same evening they got into their boat and headed across the lake toward Capernaum. When they were out on the lake, a fierce gale swept down upon them. All of a sudden they saw Jesus walking on the water toward the boat. The Bible says that they were terrified. But the great news is that Jesus, knowing their fear, said, “Don’t be afraid. I am here!” Immediately they were comforted and welcomed Him into the boat. And then the miracle happened. The boat was immediately transported to the shore! What storm are you in? What struggles do you have? Jesus still walks upon the water. He will meet you in the midst of your storm. All you need to do is let Him in the boat.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for meeting me in my storms. Thank You for walking toward me. Today, I hear You say, “Don’t be afraid, I am here!” Jesus, I hear You. I trust You. Make me conscious of Your presence.
AMEN

Don’t Worry

TODAY’S VERSE
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
Philippians 4:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Don’t worry about anything? How hard is that? Worrying comes so naturally. Perhaps that is why we need supernatural help. Paul shares that the secret to “stopping” worry is “substituting” prayer. We need to pray about what we are worrying about. Paul elaborates, “Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” If we want to stop worrying, we need to trust God with it. We let Him take the burden while focusing on heartfelt gratitude for all that He has done. When we take on this attitude of gratitude, God can work in our hearts. Paul explains, “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Today, stop worrying. Pray about whatever is bothering you. Give thanks to God and let Him fill your heart and mind with His supernatural peace.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, forgive me for worrying. I have not trusted You. Today, I bring You my burden and give thanks for all You have done. Fill me with Your peace, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Rescue Me

TODAY’S VERSE
But I will call on God, and the LORD will rescue me. Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the LORD hears my voice.
Psalms 55:16-17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Mornings were always the hardest. By night, I was alive; I felt good, depression seemed to vanish into the background. I remember feeling afraid to go asleep because I would have to start all over in the morning. The mornings were so difficult, but God was so faithful. I would read passages like today’s, “But I will call on God, and the LORD will rescue me. Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the LORD hears my voice.” Jeremiah promised, “The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” So I decided to begin my morning the night before. I would write out my praise, prayers, the scriptures I would read, and the songs I would sing. I left nothing to chance. I would get up, and before the mental fog could wisk into my mind, I would begin my routine. How faithful God was. He met me there, time and time again. I would cry out in my pain, and He would wipe away my tears. Hope rose out of despair, and His mercies were indeed fresh every morning. They have been ever since. How about you? Do you call out to God in your pain? You can. Morning, noon, or night, He is the God who is there, the God who cares. Today call on Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, come rescue my soul. I cry out to You who is faithful. You, who loves me with unfailing love. Today, I claim Your mercies for me. Come, dear Jesus, I wait for You.
AMEN

Never Abandoned

TODAY’S VERSE
Don’t abandon me, for you made me.
Psalms 138:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It strikes fear in the heart of every child. Will I be abandoned? One of the core needs of a child is to feel safe and secure. As they grow, it becomes a core longing of the heart. And it is not a wonder. With the dismantling of the family and the rampant dysfunction in so many homes, what is a child supposed to do? So we grow in adulthood without the core longing of security being established. But then there is your heavenly Father. He made you; He had a purpose in mind for you. He promises to never leave you or forsake you. King David wrote, “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.” Today rejoice, for this is true for you, “God will not abandon you, for He made you!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for creating me and Your promise that You will never abandon me. In Jesus Name.
AMEN

You Are Not Alone

TODAY’S VERSE
So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
Hebrew 4:14-16 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How is it we end up believing we are so alone? Why do we feel we must face our problems by ourselves? With Christ, nothing could be farther from the truth. We have been invited to come boldly to the very presence of God. The truth is that Jesus knows what we are going through. He understands the trials and temptations that we face. He knows the emotional struggles we have. And He knows how to get through them. You are not alone. You can come to Him and receive the grace and help you need just when you need it. Today, come boldly to Jesus.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, I come to You today, knowing that you know all about me and my situation. Help me through this day. Give me the mercy and grace that you promised to give me when I need it the most. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

He Will Never Forsake you

TODAY’S VERSE

I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There are many promises in the Bible, but I think the one that is most precious to me is when God promises that He will never leave me or forsake me. It boggles my mind to believe that God promises such a thing to me. I know that there are universes and solar systems. I know that there are billions of people. And with each person, there are multitudes of situations that need God’s attention. And yet, He is God. In His sovereign magnificence, He has declared that He will not leave me or forsake me. Never. What comfort. What hope. What joy it brings to my heart. No wonder this same author of Hebrews could conclude, “We can say with confidence, ‘The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear.’” Today, bring whatever struggles you have, whatever fears, whatever guilt, whatever sorrow, and lay it before God. Then hear Him say, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your wonderful promise that You will never leave me, nor will You forsake me. Thank You for Your faithful love. Thank You for Your grace. Fill my heart with peace and joy, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
