More

TODAY’S VERSE
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.
Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
God is so much more than we believe He is. We barely begin to know anything about His infinite power, wisdom, and love. Perhaps that is why we don’t dream big dreams for God. He has promised that He can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, and yet we live a life without the miraculous. We don’t honestly know Him, trust Him, or believe Him, so we don’t ask. We need to ask God to help us comprehend who He is and begin to imagine doing great things for God. He created us to be His ambassadors of dreams. He works through our visions, hopes, and aspirations. He longs for us to dream with Him, to create through Him, and to partner in being change agents in this world. Paul put it this way, “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Today, ask God to strengthen you with His power and fill you with His fullness so you will ask Him for the immeasurable and trust Him to do more than you can ever imagine.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, what immeasurable mighty dreams do You have for my life? What is it that You want me to trust You for? Strengthen me, Lord, with Your power. Fill me with Your fullness. Help me believe You for great things.
AMEN

Trust God With Your Life

TODAY’S VERSE
O LORD, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God!
Psalms 25:1-2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus has called us to follow Him. More than church attendance and weekly worship, Jesus wants us to be His disciples. David knew what this meant. He came to Jehovah God and said. “O Lord, I give my life to you.” God would ask the same of us. And it takes faith. We are choosing to take the only life we have and say, “Here, God, I know You gave me this life, so I am giving it back, trusting that You have a plan for me. You know best, and I trust You.” That is what David did. God is asking the same of you. Today, trust Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I choose to give my life to You. I want You to be the Lord of all I am and do. I trust You, Lord, and Your unconditional love for me.
AMEN

Joy and Compassion

TODAY’S VERSE
How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands. – They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly.
Psalms 112:1, 4-5 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
God intended us for joy. And the Psalmist shows how to be that way. In his example of a joyful person, the author attributes joy to specific behavioral characteristics. He writes, “They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly.” This is similar to what Jesus told us. He was asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” Jesus answered, saying, “The most important one is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Tim Hughes, in his song, “God of Justice” writes it this way, “God of Justice, Savior to all – Came to rescue the weak and the poor, Chose to serve and not be served – Jesus, You have called us, Freely we’ve received, Now freely we will give – We must go, Live to feed the hungry, Stand beside the broken, We must go, Stepping forward keep us from just singing, Move us into action, We must go – To act justly everyday, Loving mercy in every way, Walking humbly before You God – You have shown us, what You require, Freely we’ve received, Now freely we will give – Fill us up and send us out.” And He does, He sends us out with joy!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me to see others the way You do. Help me see the joy in loving You with all my heart, soul, mind and strength and in loving others how I want to be loved. Lord, fill me with Your love and joy and send me out.

Contentment

TODAY’S VERSE
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well-fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
Philippians 4:12 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
These have always been hard verses for me to live. Paul could write them confidently because he poured out his life as a sacrifice for Christ. I look at my life and see so much to improve on. Today, I met someone who powerfully exemplified these words. Her name is Onix. She is in her mid-forties and has been in a wheelchair for most of her life. She did not let that stop her from graduating from Moody Bible Institute and becoming a youth leader instructor and gifted Sunday School teacher. She has always been a vibrant witness for Christ. For the last five years, she has suffered from a paralyzing disease. She has needed the help of a ventilator and has been bed-bound with only partial use of her hands. She had to reteach herself how to talk to continue to witness for Christ. A few years ago, she started to paint using her mouth to hold the brush. Onix glows as she talks about what she has learned about God through this and the opportunities she has to share her faith. Her faith is contagious. Her attitude is amazing. I pray that I will be able to pattern my life after her faith. Today, let us thank God for our circumstances. Let us live out the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well-fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or want.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for complaining. Forgive me for my lack of faith. Help me live content in the fact that I am Your child and You know all about me and my circumstances. Help me to see life through your eyes and trust Your never-ending love for me.

You Have A Purpose

TODAY’S VERSE
I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me. He will send help from Heaven to rescue me.
Psalms 57:2-3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever asked yourself, “Do I have a purpose?” How about, “Is my life significant?” You see the vastness of the universe and wonder, “Can I matter that much?” The answer to the questions above is a resounding, “Yes!” You matter, have a purpose, and are very significant. Like the Psalmist, when we feel overwhelmed and doubt whether we matter, we can cry out to God, the same God who said He will fulfill His purpose for us. Did you get that? God has a purpose for you and He will fulfill it. And God is committed to fulfilling that purpose, even if it means sending help from Heaven itself to help you. So today rejoice in your significance. God loves you. He will fulfill His purpose for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for creating me for a purpose. I pray that You will give me the wisdom to know that purpose and the courage to live it out. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

What Are Your Spiritual Gifts?

TODAY’S VERSE
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
Romans 12:6-8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Are you aware that God has given you specific passions and abilities to use for His glory? God has given every believer at least one spiritual gift for doing His will in this world. And then His Holy Spirit nudges you to use those gifts through a strong desire to serve Him in a way that seems to make sense. Paul gives examples of serving, teaching, giving, and leadership. So, if different people all see a need, like helping the homeless in the community, He could motivate one to serve food at a shelter, another to teach at a job readiness class, another to give of their income to provide for the needed shelter and yet another to lead a church to get involved. Each person reacted to the same problem through how God motivated them, using the gifts he blessed them with. Today, ask God to reveal to you the different ways you could serve Him. He has given you spiritual gifts and will show you when and where to use them. 

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for giving me spiritual gifts. Help me learn everything I can about them, and help me use them for your glory.

Recorrect Your Course

TODAY’S VERSE
Don’t let me drift toward evil or take part in acts of wickedness.
Psalm 141:4

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever noticed that you can start something correctly, but over time, things change? It can get that way with life. I remember going across a big lake in a canoe. It was October cold and raining. The house was across on the other side of the lake, but you could barely see it. I started toward it, but it rained so hard that I couldn’t see it anymore. I panicked, wondering what was wrong. I finally looked way to my left, and there it was. The wind and waves had driven me off course. Even with all my paddling, I was going in the wrong direction. I had to recorrect my course. I had to do it several times in order to make it to warmth and shelter from the storm. It is easy to get off course in life. The waves and wind of everyday circumstances can take us where we don’t want to go. Today, come to God, get in the word, pray. Spend time recorrecting your course.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, You know how my heart can drift from You. Help me today recorrect my course. I need You to navigate my life.

Doing His Will

TODAY’S VERSE
Now may the God of peace—may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May He produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.
Hebrews 13:20-21 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Isn’t it exciting to know that God is more interested in you doing good than you are? He is so invested in your success that He has equipped you with everything you need to do what He wants you to do. The author of Hebrews says that God will produce in you every good thing pleasing to Him through the power of Jesus Christ! No wonder the author could finish this passage by saying, “All glory to Him forever and ever! Amen.” Today you can bring glory to God by living how He has called you to. Ask Him to help you do His will. Ask Him to provide all the power you need to do every good thing that pleases Him today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for equipping me with everything I need to do Your will. Thank You for The power that You make available to me so I can do every good thing pleasing to You. Give me the strength to live for You this day. Give me the wisdom to know what to do, the courage to follow through and the faith to trust You with the outcome.

My Purpose

TODAY’S VERSE

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I can understand God’s purpose for Michael the Archangel. I understand when God chooses a Moses, Abraham, or David to do His will. I can comprehend Jesus picking twelve disciples to follow Him and God choosing Paul to be a great missionary. What completely mystifies me, however, is that God has a purpose for me! Not only does God have a purpose for me, His purpose is to fulfill that purpose. Now you try. Read today’s passage and put yourself in the picture. God will fulfill His purpose for you! Can you get a sense of what that means? Perhaps you are thinking, “I’m nobody special.”  Sorry, but God thinks you are! “I don’t have special skills.” You have exactly what God wants you to have. “I have done too many wrong things.” God’s grace is greater than all your wrongdoing. “I can’t do anything out of the ordinary.” All God asks you to do is show up and be willing to live for Him. He will do the rest. Stop and hear God saying to you, “I am so glad I created you! I am so excited about you living out your purpose.” Today, surrender yourself to Him. Purpose in your heart to live out the purpose He has for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I surrender my life to You. Use me, live through me. Guide me and help me fulfill Your purpose for my life.
