Tell Others

TODAY’S VERSE
Sing about the glory of his name! Tell the world how glorious He is. – Come and see what our God has done what awesome miracles he performs for people!
Psalms 66:2, 5 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Some things are hard to contain. We can’t wait to get to work to tell everyone how excited we were about a sporting event. If we liked a particular movie, we tell everyone how it brought us to tears. Anytime we win something, get a good deal, or come into some extra money, all our friends know about it. And why not? We should share those things that are meaningful in our lives. Then why isn’t it this way with God? Why are we so reluctant to share what God has done for us? The only reason I can think of is that nothing exciting is happening in our lives. We know about God, but there is no relevance to our everyday living. When we think about witnessing, we believe that we have to tell people “about” God, and most of us feel inadequate or are afraid of losing an argument. But witnessing the way God intended isn’t just sharing about God; it is sharing the excitement we feel because of what He is doing in our lives. God is loving us, providing for us, protecting us, and saving us. God is active, and when we are aware of it, it is natural to share with others all that is going on. God is busy in our lives, and all He wants us to do is show people where the action is. Today, look for God’s active presence in your life and praise Him for it. And then share the wonder with those around you. Peter said it this way, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for all that You are doing in my life. Help me be more aware of Your presence and the miracles You are doing all around me. Help me share with others all that You are doing, so they can have the same hope that I do. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

What Really Matters

TODAY’S VERSE
For the Kingdom of God, it is not a matter of what we eat or drink but of living a life of goodness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Romans 17:14 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is so easy to get our priorities mixed up, isn’t it? We tend to put life into a box full of rules, regulations, and standards by which to measure ourselves. We must look a certain way, think a certain way, achieve certain accomplishments, and acquire the right accessories. Then, we develop all sorts of core beliefs that sustain these rules. For example, deep in our hearts, we may believe that if we don’t accomplish a certain goal, we will not be liked. If we don’t drive the right car or live in the right kind of community, people will think little of us. Of course, these thoughts alone don’t motivate us; it is the perceived “terrible” consequences such as rejection, abandonment, punishment, or, worst, annihilation that frighten us to death and drive us to succeed at any cost. However, these “terrible” results are only in our minds! We will not die if certain people do not like us. We are not a “loser” if we do not live in the “right” house. Instead, Paul points out what we should really strive for. We should strive to live a good, righteous life. We should seek joy and peace through the Holy Spirit. These are the essential things in life. And best of all, these are freely given to anyone who asks. He will not turn us away. It is His will that you live righteously, full of peace and joy through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. What do you want? Begin today to seek the things that matter. Follow God, He will not disappoint.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, You know what is important. You know that I have bought so many lies about success and self-worth. I need Your help to know the truth. So, please, Lord, help me live a life of goodness today. Give me the joy and peace which comes from Your Holy Spirit. Help me live today in a way that is pleasing to you.
AMEN

Treasure

TODAY’S VERSE
Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
Matthew 6:21

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Where are our priorities? What is important to us? We can pretend to believe certain spiritual truths, but what we treasure usually gives us away. Jesus is warning us that it is easy to get caught up in this life and not really look at the whole picture. We are not just part of this physical world. We are part of a much larger system. We are part of the Spiritual realm. We are connected with eternity and, therefore, need to integrate what we believe in this life with a Heavenly perspective. The question that we need to ask ourselves is, “What do we care for?” “What is really important to us?” “What do we treasure?” When we answer these questions, we will find our heart. Then, we need to ask ourselves a difficult question. “Does our heart reflect Christ’s values or the worlds?” If we are going to follow Christ, if we are going to be His representative in this world, then our heart needs to reflect what is important to Him. Today, might we check our heart’s priority and realign what’s important to us to be more in tune with Christ.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me love what You love. Help me live with Your priorities foremost in my thinking. Help live for You today.
AMEN

Dual Citizenship

TODAY’S VERSE
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
Ephesians 1:3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We live in two worlds. Yes, we are here on earth, but our life in Christ exists in the heavenly realm, where our spiritual blessings come from. God decided this destiny for us a long time ago. Paul writes, “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ.” We are a product of God’s sovereign will, and He has chosen to bless us with every spiritual blessing. Blessings like forgiveness, grace, peace, joy, the fruit of the Spirit. These are Spiritual gifts for us to enjoy here and now, sent from the very throne of God. We are united with Christ, and this union is the intertwining of both worlds, so we can say boldly with Paul, “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.” Today, might the realization of your Heavenly citizenship bring you joy.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Thank You, Father, for creating and blessing me with every Spiritual blessing. I know that these are gifts from Your very throne and that You determined to bless me before the world was even made. Thank You for making me part of Your plan. Thank You for Your eternal love. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Believe

TODAY’S VERSE
So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
Romans 5:11 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There comes a time when you must choose whether or not you are going to believe. There are many things that you can strive for in life. There are many goals you can live for. There are many lofty positions you can aspire to. But in all your striving, there is one most important attribute you dare not ignore. God has created you to be more than a creation. He has created you to be His friend. Do you believe this? As hard as that can be to grasp, it is true. God will even help you understand it more thoroughly if you let Him. He gave you the Holy Spirit to fill your heart with His love. So today, you need to listen to His voice. Let today’s verse penetrate your heart. “So now you can rejoice in your wonderful new relationship with God because the Lord Jesus Christ has made you a friend of God.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, creator of all things, Almighty God, how thankful I am that You have called me Your friend. Holy Spirit, help me understand what this means. Please fill my heart with the knowledge of your love. Help me to know and rejoice in this new relationship with You.
Amen

He Lives

TODAY’S VERSE
The Lord lives! Praise to my Rock! May the God of my salvation be exalted!
Psalms 18:46 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What an excellent proclamation. What a felt reality. I can hear David proclaiming, “The Lord Lives!” And why not? He had spent His whole life trusting God. He trusted God when a bear and wild animals attacked him as a shepherd. He trusted God when he slew Goliath. He trusted God when being pursued by Saul. God delivered from them all, so he starts this Psalm by saying, “I love you, Lord!” He then gives the reason for his exuberance. He writes, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my Savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.” His proclamation was similar to Peter’s revelation when Jesus asked Peter, “What about you? Who do you say I am?” Peter answered Jesus, saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Our God is alive. Christ rose from the dead. Let it stir your soul! A famous hymn says it best, “I serve a risen Savior; He’s in the world today. I know that He is risen no matter what man may say. I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer, And just the time I need Him, He’s always near. He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way. He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart!” Today, rejoice that the Lord lives!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, how I praise You for Your resurrection. How I praise You that You are alive in my life. Thank You that I can put all my trust in You. I love You, my Lord and my Savior.
AMEN

I Am Slipping

TODAY’S VERSE
When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.
Psalms 94:18-19

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever lost your footing? My son Nathan did. I went climbing a small rock with my two oldest boys. Nathan was rising above me. He was almost to the top of our little climb when his foot slipped. I was below on a ledge, and as Nathan came sliding down the face, I was able to catch him. We hugged and I helped him back up where he completed the climb. I went with him the whole way. I don’t know who was more scared, Nathan or me. I love my son and did everything I could to stop him from getting hurt. Our feet slip, don’t they? Every day, anxiety, pressure, and the complexities of life assault us and knock us off balance. The good news is that we have a Father waiting to catch us and help us back up the trail.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, when my feet slip, I am thankful for Your help and support. When I am troubled today, I ask that You make me conscious of Your presence and bring a deep joy to my soul.
AMEN

Heaven On Earth

TODAY’S VERSE
Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Matthew 6:10 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
It is impossible to truly understand this life without considering the next life. To comprehend God’s will on earth, we must be conscious of His kingdom and let it influence our thoughts and actions. Nothing really makes sense in this world without a heavenly perspective. Thank God that Jesus was the bridge between the two worlds. He is the resurrection into the next world and the key to life in this one. So today, take time to invite His Kingdom to invade yours. Make room for Heaven in your life. Ask God to make you conscious of His presence right now and to influence all you think and do this day.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I confess I have had my eyes to the ground, busy focusing on my life in this world. I invite You to invade my presence and help me see life from Your perspective. Thank You for Your resurrection and how it provides the way for me to live with You for all eternity. May Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
AMEN

I Can Only Imagine

TODAY’S VERSE
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.
I Corinthians 2:9 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Whenever we moved, my wife and I worked together to find a house. However, when we moved to Georgia, I was there for two months before her. My son came with me, and we looked for homes. He found one on the MLS listing and went to meet the people. He called me at work and said that he found the house for us. He was right. It was love at first sight. It was rustic, in the woods, and had a lot of potential. Of course, that meant it needed a lot of work. Somehow, though, I could see the finished home in my mind’s eye. I was excited and sent my wife a rendering of my proposal. I promised her that I would get the house fixed up. I kept my word. I put in trails, two ponds, a bonus apartment, a bird sanctuary, plumbing, electric work, a deck, and new floors. I painted, cleaned, and put in gardens. I have never enjoyed a project more. I wanted my wife to love it like I did. Well, she fell in love with the house, too. Now, imagine what Jesus feels like. He said that He went to prepare a place for us. And what a place it must be! Paul writes, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.” As the popular Christian song says, “I can only imagine!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Jesus, I thank You that You have gone on ahead to prepare a place in eternity for me. I cannot imagine what You must have in store. I only know that You love me, and no one can even begin to conceive how great it will be to spend eternity with You. Let me live today with eternity in mind. Thank You, Lord Jesus.
AMEN

A Place For You

TODAY’S VERSE
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.’ ‘No, we don’t know, Lord,’ Thomas said. ‘We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’”
John 14:1-7

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It was a beautiful sunny day in San Diego, California. People were going to the ocean in droves as thirty-five of us went to a little chapel near the beach. I was asked to officiate a funeral for Judy. She loved California. The flowers, sun, beaches, and mountains brought Judy joy. But the real passion of her heart was her relationship with Jesus Christ. We started with a praise song, and then I shared from today’s passage. We drew much comfort from knowing that Jesus’s words were absolutely true. We were able to stop our hearts from being troubled. We knew that Jesus had prepared a place for Judy; before she departed, she knew it too. Judy came to a place where she understood what Jesus meant when He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Today, you can too. If you are not sure what will happen when you die or that your eternal home will be with Jesus in Heaven for all eternity, then settle it today. Receive Christ as your Lord and Savior. Receive His death on the cross as the payment for your sins and become a new person in Him. Your heart doesn’t have to be troubled over your eternal destiny. He has prepared a place for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, You said not to let my heart be troubled but instead to believe in You. You said that You have gone ahead and have prepared a place for me. You said you are the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through You. I come today, confessing that my attitudes and behavior have separated me from You. I ask Your forgiveness. Thank you that You died on the cross for my wrong doing, and I now receive Your gift of eternal life. Be the ruler of my life. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
