I am only posting this because I promised myself I would if I ever got to 10 years of blogging.
A birthday post.
So..........
My beloved Pa died in June.
My divorce nisi will be pronounced very shortly.
My house is sold.
My Ma will be going in to residential care next week.
The world still turns.

For now anyway.

Best present of all this Christmas? a healthy and beautiful sister for my gorgeous granddaughter....I am a nana to two now.....how blessed.

The picture on the left is from an article featured in a magazine from 2006, and the picture on the right is of a painting I own by the same artist. My painting has quite a story written on the back by the artist as he described the painting and gifted it to a friend...there are dates and names etc.,it was also verified by a local long established gallery owner who stated that it was certainly by the artist in question (Bertram Priestman) but it wasn't one of his best and if I wanted to sell it he would give me a couple of hundred pounds. I don't want to sell it .... but I do wonder if his price is quite right?

I retired today. No idea how the future is going to unravel and unfurl in front of me but I'm buckled in for the ride now.

I left for work at 7.50 this morning - no heating on - left work at 5.15 and then went to choir - so have just come in and the house is COLD.......
Had a lovely lunch with blogger Rachel yesterday (she traveled up from her corner of the world to mine by train) and it was really good to meet her.  It can be a little odd to meet another blogger.....she is the fourth one I've met and so far they have all been great fun to meet. We enjoyed getting to know each other face to face and got on famously. Be warned people.....we may visit!

In the big scheme of things, my request is shamefully selfish and should be ignored, (and of course will be), and truth be told in my pressing list of important things at the moment, this is way way way down on the list....but instead of bothering Jennifer Lawrence, who has a busy acting career to focus on, I would  really really  be up for being in a Dior ad.......hairdressers to manage my thinning old locks, makeup artists to replace my old face with a younger version, and camera people to work their magic on how I look and move.......and something fabulous to wear and no words to memorise....just artful shots of a genuine consumer....64 and knackered and fed up of seeing those ads.........are you listening DIOR!

From tea time yesterday until lunchtime today I have had my grand daughter staying with me...my first 'over nighter'. I can't say I wasn't a little anxious........would she sleep? would she be upset away from her mama and daddy?.
I needn't have worried....she was a delight and a pleasure to be with. We both had our pj's on early and snuggled up to read before bed.
This morning, watching her playing with my necklaces and bits and bobs at the dressing table, after we had made porridge for breakfast, and read 'The Tiger who came to tea' for the umpteenth time, she looked at me and said 'I'm happy Nana'.....................which has been the loveliest thing I have heard in a long long time.
