On Twelfth Night 2009, the SS Vulcania set sail. The SS Vulcania is a virtual cruise ship that has been commissioned and is led by Heather Blakey, the Webmistress of the Soul Food Cafe, an internationally acclaimed site, providing creative stimuli for writers and artists.
The SS Vulcania is a luxury liner, in the style of the Conte di Savoia. The Vulcania is inspired by the luxurious, Italian transatlantic liners of the past, liners which voyaged between Italy and the Americas. The SS Vulcania is sailing the waters of Lemuria, a virtual community, providing ideas and suggestions for people who want to write, make art, and learn just what is possible in an online learning environment.
When not taking part in a cruise or other exciting adventure through Lemuria, participants often take up residence at Riversleigh Manor. Upon the death of her father and brother Charles, Sibyl Riversleigh inherited the family Manor house. When she returned she found the manor house and estate had fallen into disrepair. Since her return, Sibyl has breathed fresh new life into the whole estate. She has opened the house to artists, writers, musicians, and travelling itinerants.
