Tools
Customers need tools for dealing with the businesses and governments of the world—and to signal what’s okay and what’s not okay in the way both parties treat each other. Privacy is a big part of this, because the Internet came without privacy, just as nature did. Thus, much of our early work here is toward getting each of us the equivalents of the most elementary privacy protections we enjoy in the natural world: clothing and shelter.
Customer Commons has two approaches here:
1. Host tools of our own making
2. Endorse tools by others
To start we are developing a number of tool types:
Agreements
Terms, aka agreements, that each of us can proffer as first parties in dealing with websites and services.
policies
Privacy policies we have as individuals.
Loyalty
Cookies, true loyalty cards and other instruments expressing personal intent when interacting with websites and services.
We also salute and support tools allied organizations develop. Examples include:

Kantara Initiative
Many being developed under Kantara.

EFF
Lots of stuff the EFF does. (For a fun revelation, try Panopticlick.)

Patient Privacy Rights
Patient Privacy Rights PPR Information Governance Label.
