pipedown magazine
Pipe Down aims to shine a light on the often “stigmatised subject of addiction,” bridging the gap between recovery communities and the wider world. Its mission is to “bring recovery into the world, and the world into recovery,” offering honest, hopeful perspectives on an experience too often misunderstood. Editor Araminta Jonsson explains that the magazine isn’t just for those in recovery, but also for their families, friends, and anyone working within the sector. Each issue seeks to engage readers with humour, warmth, and humanity — drawing them in with wit and relatability before exploring the deeper stories, insights, and ideas that can truly support recovery.
Ctrl Alt Design created the visual identity and layout for Pipe Down, developing a bold yet approachable aesthetic that balances sensitivity with optimism. The design uses clean typography, uplifting colours, and playful illustrations to make serious topics more accessible and engaging. Each spread is carefully structured to encourage discovery — inviting readers to pause, reflect, and connect with the stories within.
