Thanks to UNC’s AI Acceleration Program, Professor Kris Jordan distributed OpenAI API keys to all 200 students in his COMP 423 course, giving them access to language models like OpenAI’s GPT-4. By integrating generative AI into the course, students prepared for the future of work by learning the fundamentals of prompt and context engineering, exploring latency and user experience challenges, and grappling with the limitations of generative models.
Yujian Tang arrived at Carolina already a passionate computer science student, having won competitions in high school and secured an internship at IBM before setting foot on campus. But it was at Carolina that he found his passion for building community and his love for teaching.
